My Plate Assignment- 40 points
The goal of this activity is to help you analyze what you are eating. Myplate.gov will help you
determine if your eating habits are healthy or not. Before completing the steps in this packet, I
want you to type a paragraph analyzing your food log on your own. You are going to analyze
the information that you recorded for your 3 day food and activity log. Make sure that you
follow all of the steps in order.
You will write 2 paragraphs for each of the 3 days you analyzed. Use your own words to
summarize the analysis from myplate.gov.



Directions for the May Plate Assignment
1. Before going to the website, open Google Docs. Begin by typing a one paragraph analysis of
how well you think you ate over the 3 days of recording your diet. Answer the following
questions: How do you think you did? Do you think you ate enough fruits and vegetables?
Could you have cut back on fatty foods? What about your dairy intake? Answer these questions
and more before completing the next steps.
2. Go to www.choosemyplate.gov
3. Select Super Tracker and Other Tools. It is on the long green rectangle.
4. Under the large heading “Super Tracker,” select a smaller blue super tracker link.
5. Select register or login on the far side of the blue rectangle
6. Type in your personal information and use your school user id and password.
7. Select Track Food and Activity. It is on the long blue rectangle.
8. Select the date you ate your food on the left hand side
9. Enter in food
10. Select the amount of food you ate and enter it into the correct meal category. Don’t forget
beverages.
11. Continue to enter food for the entire day
12. Select Physical Activity Tracker and enter in activity.
13. Paragraph #1
a. In the top right, you will see the Daily Food Group Targets. Analyze your day of eating
based on what you see in the graph.
14. Paragraph #2
a. Below the graph, you will see the daily limits. Analyze the amount of calories, fats and
sodium you are consuming.
15. Repeat steps 5-13 for the additional two days.
16. Summarize your results for the three days and set goals to improve. Your closing paragraph
should be a summary of all three days. How did you do overall? What are your strengths and
weaknesses in your diet? Are there any things you would change in your diet to become
healthier? Why or why not?
