River Dell High School Film Analysis 2012-2013
To Be Signed by Parents and Students
The aim of Film Analysis is to study films in the same way we have previously studied
written literature, with particular emphasis on how motion pictures combine narrative,
character and thematic structure in order to convey messages and illicit emotional
responses. At the same time, the students’ repertoire of film knowledge, their ability to
criticize movies, and write analytically will be greatly enhanced.
We will view approximately 25 full length movies this year, 5 chosen by the students and
the rest chosen by the teacher, Mr. Reich. In addition, single scenes or sequences from
some of the movies listed below may be shown for demonstration purposes. Because
some movies carry an “R” rating, it is imperative that you give your permission for your
child to view them. Please fill out and sign the form below:
