Meet the clinical team
This Years Theme is ‘A Force for
Change’
• In support of the day the clinical team wish to promote who we all are
and what our various roles involve.
• In recognition of the importance of the work environment, our recent
desk moves have been to provide us with the opportunity to support
each other and work more closely together to provide the wider team at
111 with a team of clinical staff who are focused upon a shared vision of
excellent patient care

Alex
Podiatrist
Trained at the University of Salford and obtained a Diploma in Podiatric Medicine
which she later went on the complete her Masters Degree (M.Sc.)
She has worked in South Cumbria, Derbyshire both for the NHS and in Private
practice as well as working in Europe.
She joined GMCATS in 2011 working as a Podiatrist on the mobile units. Her role
is now based at 111 working within the clinical team. Her responsibilities include
triage of the MSK referrals and supporting the Nurse Advisors with MRI safety
questionnaires and queries regarding investigations as well as supporting the
Therapy Team.

Janet
Lead Cancer Nurse
Trained at the Oldham School
of Nursing and has vast
experience of working within the Gynaecology field of nursing
including time on the wards and working as an Oncology support
nurse .
Janet joined GMCATS at the start of this contract in 2009 and worked
as a Lead Gynaecology nurse on the North Unit. She has since
completed her degree and is now employed as a Cancer Nurse.
Her role is to support and advise patients within our service who are
highly likely to have a cancer diagnosis. This involves delivering care
face to face or over the telephone. She works closely with external
providers to ensure our patients receive care that is appropriate for
their needs.

Joanne
Senior Sister
Trained initially as an RMN (Psychiatry) at Huddersfield School of
Nursing and worked within acute psychiatry and secure care.
Later completed her RGN at Hallam University, Sheffield. Initially
gained experience in the Burns Unit there and then ENT and then the
Regional Head and Neck Centre. She then worked at Stockport PCT
at the start up of the choice agenda working within the commissioning
team.
Joanne joined GMCATS at the start of this contract in 2009 and
worked as a Lead ENT nurse on the South Unit. She then became
senior sister on both the MCUs and now works at 111.
Her role today within the Senior Management team concentrates
upon compliance with corporate and local agendas- she leads on IPC
and Health and Safety.

Dean
Lead Resuscitation Nurse
Dean started his career as an Emergency medical technician in the
USA. He later trained as a Paramedic In NYC and finally attended
Dutchess County College and trained as a nurse.
He has previously worked within a trauma centre covering New York
City and later worked within Intensive care, management and
training.
He has worked at Salford Royal High Dependency Unit and as a
Resuscitation Officer. He has been at GMCATS for two years and his
role involves training all staff with BLS and ILS. He also supports the
Nursing Team at 111 with triage and the nurse adviser role.

Sarah
Pre- Assessment Nurse
Trained at Manchester University and has spent her nursing
career working within a variety of orthopaedic settings within the
independent sector including working at BUPA and as an
orthopaedic pre- assessment nurse in Runcorn. She also has
worked within reproductive medicine as a specialist IVF nurse.
Sarah joined GMCATS at the start of this contract in 2009 and
worked as a Lead Orthopaedic nurse on the South Unit. She has
since been employed as a PMC Nurse advisor and currently as a Pre
assessment nurse working both on the units in pre operative
assessment and at 111 as a telephone assessment nurse.

Zoe
Pre- Assessment Nurse
Trained at University of Manchester- predominantly at MRI and
has spent her nursing career working within a variety of
gynaecology settings at St. Marys Hospital including surgical
ward, emergency Gynaecology unit and Reproductive medicine.
She then worked at Fairfield and Rochdale Infirmary as a Preoperative assessment nurse.
Zoe joined GMCATS in 2011 and worked as a RGN on the North
Unit. She was involved with the Direct Listing Project from start up
due to her pre op experience and currently is a Pre assessment
nurse working both on the units in pre operative assessment and at
111 as a telephone assessment nurse.

Alison H
Clinical Services Manager/Lead Nurse
Trained at Withington Hospital and has vast experience of
working within Day case theatre, anaesthetics and recovery and
Endoscopy.
Alison joined GMCATS initially as Endoscopy Manager. She has
been Clinical Services Manager for the past three years and
despite having responsibility for all clinical services; being the
Registered manager for the service and linking corporately with all
CSM and the Lead Nurse network- she is ultimately a nurse.

Alison T
Nurse Adviser
Trained at South Manchester NHS Trust and has worked at
Wythenshawe, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Macclesfield District
General and the Alexandra Hospital within Intensive care, Cardiac
Catheter Lab and the Outpatients Departments as well as working
in Occupational Health in industry and Health Screening.
Alison joined GMCATS at the start of this contract in 2009 and
worked as a Lead General Nurse on the South Unit.
Her current role is to support and advise patients within our service
who contact the call centre at 111 as well as working within the team
there she also supports clinical triage and the Gastroenterology
telephone assessment clinics delivered from the call centre.

Anne
Nurse Adviser
Trained at Guys Hospital, London with vast experience of working
within the Accident ad Emergency Department both there and in
Preston.
Anne joined GMCATS near the beginning of this contract in 2009 and
worked as a Lead MSK Nurse on the North Unit.
Her current role is to support and advise patients within our service
who contact the call centre at 111. She deals with any query that
comes through the call centre either from patients, the units or
external partners such as hospital/GPs. She also support the other
members of the clinical team dealing with patient complaints, clinical
triage or onward referrals.

Maria
Specialist Nurse
Trained at Bury General Hospital and initially worked within
Gynaecology. Maria then went to work within the Theatre setting,
and after a number of years went on to complete her Children’s
Nursing qualification (RSCN)
She has vast experience within the Theatre setting not only as a
nurse but also as a manager.
Maria came to GMCATS in 2011 to support the Endoscopy
service ad later was appointed as Senior Sister on the South Unit.
She currently woks as a Specialist Nurse for Gastroenterology
seeing patents in clinic as well as supporting telephone
assessment clinics at 111.

Gordon
Medical Director
Trained at Queens University in Belfast and completed his
surgical rotation in Northern Ireland.
Gordon completed rotations all across the Globe from Africa to
Canada however, always wanted to be a General Surgeon.
He recently was a Consultant at Stepping Hill Hospital, his
speciality being Colorectal Surgery.
He has been with GMCATS for the past 4 years in his current role
as Medical Director- he probably has the largest team of staff
here with just less than 100 consultants to manage!!
He is ultimately responsible for the care and treatment delivered
within this service.

Pat
Operational Manager
Trained at Northwick Park Hospital and Clinical Research Centre,
Harrow and worked across the southwest (Dorset and Devon)
mainly within Operating Theatres. She then moved to Milton
Keynes and became the Operating Theatre Manager, then at
Buxton Cottage Hospital and then to Stepping Hill Hospital
working within the Audit/Governance Team.
Pat then worked for the PCT in Stockport as the Associate
Director of Commissioning and then became the Director of the
Practice based Commissioning Group leading onto Contract
Management for the Association of Greater Manchester PCTs.
She is responsible for the overall operational delivery of this
service reporting directly to our regional Manager and group.

Lindsey
Healthcare Assistant/Clinical Administrator
Lindsey was a Healthcare assistant at The Royal Oldham
Hospital on a Gastroenterology ward before she went on to
complete her foundation year of Nurse Training.
Lindsey joined GMCATS in 2011 and worked as a HCA on the North
Unit. She has since completed her NVQ 3 in Health and Social care
and is now employed at 111 working within the Nurse Advisor Team.
Her role is to support and advise patients within our service who are
undergoing investigations, she works closely with external providers
to ensure our patients receive care that is appropriate for their needs.

Greg
Consultant Podiatrist/Head of Specialist Clinical & AHP
Services
Trained at the Northern College of Podiatry in Manchester and
worked extensively within North Derbyshire area. He commenced
his Surgical Fellowship and then worked within the Royal Medical
Corps in Pirbright. He has experience of working in a variety of
setting and healthcare markets including the commercial field and
education.
Greg joined GMCATS in 2011 as a Consultant Podiatrist and has
since been successful in his current appointment since 2013 leading
the Therapy Team and driving quality initiatives within that field.

Paul
Lead Physiotherapist
Graduated from Coventry University as a Physiotherapist
completing all placements within the West Midlands.
Upon qualifying there was a 93% unemployment rate for physics
and so Paul began work within private practice and then went to
work in Europe.
He joined GMCATS in 2010 and during the past 4 years has
moved from being a bank staff member to his current role.
His current role is multi faceted, he is currently working on the
development of the physiotherapy service and the role of the
various therapists. This involves delivering care face to face or
over the telephone and development and delivery of care
pathways.
