Unit 6: Trade & Economics // Project
Wheel-O-Economics
For this individual project, you are going to make a poster with a Wheel-O-Economics on the left side and a Visual/Written
Connection on the right side. Your goal is to make multiple connections between the three topics (Sub-Saharan Africa, Black Death,
and Columbian Exchange) in Unit 6: Trade and Economics.
You will have three days in class to complete the project. Paper, plates, wheel templates, brass fasteners, markers, tape, glue,
and scissors will be provided for you in class. Any additional resources that you want to bring in (e.g. pictures from Google Images)
are welcome. Try to challenge yourself with this project—superior effort will be rewarded.
Left Side of the Poster
 Choose between a Wheel-O-Economics with 6, 9, or 12 slices
 Decide which 2, 3, or 4 connections you want to display on the wheel and make them the same color slice (As, Bs, etc.)
 Write and draw out examples of Topic-specific vocabulary words on each slice of the wheel
 Divide the wheel into three sections. Your slices from each topic will take up one third of the wheel.
For example: [SSA] A=malaria, B=camel; [BD] A=bubonic plague, B=rat; [CE] A=small pox, B=horse
Right Side of the Poster
 Visually depict one of the connections from your Wheel-O-Social Studies
 Write a fact/fact commentary explaining the connection using Trade & Economics terms and Topic-specific vocabulary
