WAVIN TO DEBATE AND DEMONSTRATE
WATER MATTERS AT ECOBUILD
Wavin, the UK’s leading manufacturer of plumbing, rainwater and drainage systems will be
delivering a programme of thought provoking water based debates and practical
demonstrations at Ecobuild. The programme is part of the company’s Water Matters
campaign and will be addressing a number of different challenges the UK has in relation to
water
Taking place at London’s ExCeL from the 8th to the 10th March, Ecobuild is the leading
exhibition and conference for the UK construction market, attracting over 40,000 industry
professionals from across the whole supply chain. The 2016 event will see a focus on
areas of industry growth and market priorities such as housing, infrastructure, next
generation innovation, technology and people.
Water is one of the most valuable natural resources and all too often something that the
UK struggles to manage successfully with extremes being major flooding to scarcity during
the all too often summer shortages. Water Matters looks to bring some of these issues to
the forefront by bringing industry experts together to discuss and debate.
Among speakers giving their forthright, expert - and at times – provocative views include
Will McBain, Associates Director; Water at Arup, Sue Illman Managing Director of
landscape architects Illman Young and the Construction Industry Council's Champion for
Flood Mitigation and Resilience; Steve Wilson, Technical Director, The Environmental
Protection Group; Alistair Chisholm, Head of Policy and Communications, CIWEM; Paul
Schaffer,Associate, CIRIA and Lutz Johan of Aquality.

Topics being debated will be a follow up to the Water Matters Big Debate – ‘Is the UK
ready for the next big flood?’ held in conjunction with Building magazine at the end of last
year. This session will see the panel look at ‘where are we now’. Other sessions include
the new CIRIA SuDS Manual; Catchment Management and flooding; BIM Level 2 and
beyond.
Wavin will also be holding daily session’s demonstrating its Building Information Modelling
(BIM) content package for plumbing and drainage. Built in Revit, this new and innovative
intelligence based system will remove uncertainty in pipe design and help to make the
specification of the company’s plumbing and drainage systems even more accurate, cost
effective and efficient.
Aligned with Ecobuild’s theme of Next Generation, the programme will include a series of
practical morning demonstration sessions aimed at inspiring the next generation of
installer. Sessions will include ‘Hand on with Hep2O’ and ‘Tips and tricks with Osma soil
and waste’.
