Requirement – Manager, Sales & Marketing Catalyst requires an ambitious and up-and-coming marketing & sales professional, with a desire to apply their commercial planning skills and Greater China (with focus on mainland market) media market knowledge in the exciting context of international sport rights. Reporting to the SVP, Sales & Marketing (Greater China) and supporting the Head of Commercial, the successful candidate will play a key role in the sales department. The role will be initially focused on supporting senior staff with market intelligence, research and high-quality sales materials required to sell premium event sponsorships in the Chinese market – with the aim to grow into client-facing activity according to progression in the role. The likely candidate will have 2-5 years experience working in a media, advertising or research agency in a commercial planning role focused on the mainland China. With proven experience in applying business, brand and media performance metrics in a commercial context, the candidate will have ambitions to progress from back-of- house sales research focused tasks, to client-facing sales activities. They will be an ambitious self-starter, but with a desire to learn from experienced professionals about the sports marketing business. Principal Accountabilities Assist in the development of sponsorship sales strategy & prospect identification, via analysis of market intelligence sources and research Via analysis of market intelligence (industry press, annual reports etc) and consumer and media research, providing compelling rationale and arguments to support pitching of sponsorship to prospect clients Work with senior staff to develop and adjust high-quality tailored sales presentations for prospect clients (in Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese – often translating from English) In collaboration with other staff, build regular market intelligence and sales planning reports as well as customer case-studies to support sales From time to time, make cold-calls to prospect clients and secure meetings for senior sales staff Maintaining and building sales contact lists Candidate Profile Key Requirements 2-5 years experience in a media, advertising or research role – ideally within a commercial context with some degree of client interaction Strong understanding of the media and advertising market in Mainland China, with at least some degree of direct experience working with Chinese clients Relevant tertiary qualifications in business/economics/marketing field Analytical and strategically minded, with a natural commercially flair and desire to develop relationships internally and externally A strong interest in developing a career in sports marketing Proficient in Mandarin, spoken and written Fluent in English Ability to write and translate both Simplified and Traditional Chinese to/from English
