Young Engineers Day 2013
Opened by a Welcome Address by the President of IES, Prof Chou Siaw Kiang, the Young Engineers Day
2013 was launched with the theme “Trust Us, We are Engineers”. The students from various Secondary
Schools and tertiary institutions then took part in a dialogue session that was moderated by Mr. Joe
Eades, Managing Director of Ispahan Group, Part Time Lecturer at National University of Singapore and Vice
Chairman of IChemE in Singapore at IChemE.
The speakers at the dialogue session were Dr Freda LIM Chiang Huay, Scientist at the Institute of High Performance
Computing, A*Star; Eng. Zainab S. Lari, Chair of WFEO Young Engineers / Future Leaders Committee, Vice
President of WFEO and Board Member of Kuwait Society of Engineers; Dr Freda Lim Chiang Huay,
Scientist, IHPC A*STAR; Mr Peter Goh Teck Ting, Managing Director of Chloros-Solutions; and Ms Fam
Meiling, Chairman of IES Young Engineers Committee.
The students then broke up into their respective teams to present projects to address the issue of
climate change.
The Chief Judge of the judging panel, Mr Yuen Sai Kuan, Director of 3P Network Division of the National
Climate Change Secretariat (NCCS) in the Prime Minister’s Office, handed out the awards to the winning
teams at the end of the night.
