Slides from today’s meeting are on the website and attached to the e-mail with meeting information.

1) EMS 12-Lead ECG Funding

Applications are now open! Deadline is February 12 th at 5:00 pm. You will receive an e-mail in a format that can just be forwarded as is to all your contacts. It is crucial that we get this information to all services and medical directors across Iowa.

2) A list of services receiving funding in

Round 1 is listed in the slides and on the website.

3) Work continues on the EMS guideline.

EMSAC and QASP will be reviewing the draft this month. Final approval will not happen until 2017. However, once the guideline is finished, it will be rolled out with education. Services wishing to use the parts of the guideline not included in the state protocol will be able to request that from IDPH. Steve Mercer and Joseph

Ferrell are contacts for questions on that process. We will provide more information in the coming weeks.

EMS Guideline draft review:

ML Iowa EMS

Transport Guideline DRAFT ONLY 122215 GM.pdf

We are getting final approval from the

Interventional Cardiology Steering

Committee on the guideline. Once this is achieved, we will begin education with

EMS and Hospitals regarding Mission:

Lifeline System of Care and the EMS and

Non-PCI Hospital Guidelines.

We will discuss the final details of the education roll out at the February Task

Force Meeting.

All PCI Centers will be listed on the

Guideline with their contact information and status.

It is important to remember, the guideline is a fluid document and will be continually reviewed and updated as we move the needle in Iowa and as science and evidence change. It will be important to keep the guideline current to ensure best practice across the state.

All Non-PCI hospitals will be assessed for transmitting/receiving capability for 12-

Lead ECG. Those hospitals needing equipment will be prioritized and funding will begin by the end of January, 2016.

See the map of the current PCI Centers and PCI Centers reporting data to Action

Registry – Get With The Guidelines in the slides attached.

Work is ongoing to build regional STEMI teams that have communication between each part of the system of care to ensure consistent and appropriate care of every

STEMI patient.

 Working with training entities to finalize the logistics and plan for educating EMS and Non-PCI hospitals across Iowa in 2016. Videos are being developed along with the didactic and hands-on education. It is anticipated at this time that formal education will begin March 1 st , 2016. However, if any service receiving equipment prior to that in need of training/education, please contact Gary Myers or Heather
