This hostel was located on the Katraj- Dehu Road Bypass at Warje in Pune, opposite Popular Nagar, where the present Mai Mangeshkar Hospital stands.
I joined just while the building was nearing the complettion and before I knew or expected it, the students of the
Aeronautical College located near the over-bridge began to swarm-in alongwith their parents, carrying the slips of their room nos., most of which were not even completed as yet and hence I had to give them whatever was available and reasonably ready.
Those were the most hectic times of my life, on duty almost 24 hours a-day, all kinds of funny and infuriating experiences with the students and the staff, drinking and drugs and pornography being the problems with certain students and one or two members of the catering staff etc.
While working there, I was enticed away by a very smart lady lawyer, with an offer to work as a Food & beverages manager at The Orchard Resort, on Pune- Bangalore highway near Nasrapur.
Looking at the requirement to live at the site and the work-scheule stretching over 15 hours a day etc. and the problems of leave, I left that job within a few weeks only.

I think it was an unofficial appointment, since I was never given any Appointment letter, but the area for the marketing through the dealers network included Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh and New
& Old Delhi.
I used to travel by trains, mostly at nights and hit upon a new city each morning, to save the Lodging expenses, roam around the city, contacting the dealers, appoint new stockists and Distributors, settle the issues of Goods returnable by replacement at a certain agreeable %, book the orders from the local retailers, hand them over to the local main distributor / stockist and then move on to the next city.
Although my run was marathon and a very great success shortly, unfortunately there was a strike at the company's works in Pune and no communication possible with the owners and me stranded at Kanpur without any money etc. Ultimately I was back in Pune after a long wait in N. delhi and resigned.

I have the culinary skills which I wanted to try out to see if I could succeed in the Restaurant & Dining Hall business.
It failed miserably on account of the wrong type of employees, the wrong location, poor response and financial troubles for want of capital, leaving me in debts, which I repaid after a few years in installments, although the quality of food and service was excellent. It was loacted in a very remote lane of old Kothrud gaothan and there was a Desi Liquor shop in the lane, which drove any good people away from the restaurant, looking at the types of customers gathering there. A Costly Lesson learnt : "Never deal with perishable food again, where you have to rely solely upon the employees and are short of capital to begin with and that too at a wrong location etc."

It was a huge success but on account of the daily grind requiring me to labor physically for loading and unloading of goods, where no labors could be found and the need to be awake each night etc. I gave up and then all the vehicles were sold out and the business wound up eventually.
