Syllabus – Drawing 2
Mr. Reese
Cory_Reese@allenisd.org
As a Drawing Student, you will create a wide range of projects using as many media as
possible. You will receive a detailed assignment sheet for each project. Due dates will be indicated at
that time. All projects and dates are subject to change based on class progress. The following are
examples of assignments you will encounter this year:
* Positive/Negative Space
* Craftsmanship and Proportion
* Value & Shading
* Writing Critical Assessments
* Line Composition
* Composition
* Color Theory
* Illustration
* Still Life Drawing
* Visual Storytelling
* Various Media
* Career Investigation
Homework is assigned. This usually requires you to bring something to class to work from. A
grade is taken. You are not allowed to take projects home. This allows me to teach you as you
are creating the project; therefore class time is very valuable.
Should you require extra time, You may schedule and attend tutorials during specified
tutorial times.
Art is a discipline. It must be practiced. Take advantage of class time and keep up to
assignments. Late work is not acceptable.
SUPPLY LIST ATTACHED: Asel Art has generously discounted
supplies, and packaged them for easy pick up. Purchases may, of
course, be made elsewhere. Borrowing is strongly discouraged. If
other arrangements need to be made, please contact me at any time. I
am more than willing to provide for any student in need, but I must be
notified of this need.
ALL SUPPLIES ARE DUE BY SEPTEMBER _______________________
Tutorials
Students may take advantage frequent tutorial opportunities.
This is a time to get ahead, catch up, keep up or just work on projects. Students are encouraged
to use this time and be productive. Normal class rules apply. Only art students may use the
studio during this time.
All tutorial times must be scheduled by appointment.
MATS or “Mandatory Art Tutorial Session” will be assigned to students
who are falling behind in their work. If a MATS session is missed, a detention is issued.
What do I do if I missed art class?
Ask for papers beforehand.
Students are responsible for keeping up with their own work.
Check to see what you missed..
If you don’t know what to do… ask.
Turn in your work quickly.
Don’t stress.
Learning is a flexible event. If a student is struggling to catch up on work due to missed class
periods, they are encouraged to talk to the teacher about extension options. Deadlines are tight
and expectations are high, but we all have circumstances beyond our control. Substantial
extensions, beyond the regular extension described in this policy, will only be given after a
conference between the teacher and a parent and/or student. Large extensions will not be given
automatically but can be arranged. The teacher is willing to work with the student to get the
projects done in a reasonable timeframe.
