ROLE PROFILE Role Title: Prospect Research Manager – Operations Team Grade: Reports to: Director of Operations (and Finance) Notice Period: 2 Months Direct Reports: n/a Directorate and team: Operations/Fundraising Location: London or St Andrews Date: Summary of the Role’s Main Purpose: To develop, implement and lead a prospect research strategy for Worldwide Cancer Research ensuring maximum return on time invested in order for the fundraising team to deliver income targets. Build and develop relationships with internal teams; Build and manage prospect pipelines for teams and collaborate to create cross-team processes that ensure a seamless experience for supporters. Understand the overall vision and goals of the Fundraising programme and make a positive contribution toward these, and those of Worldwide Cancer Research. Key Responsibilities: Prospect Identification, Research & Management Develop, implement and lead a prospect research strategy for the Fundraising programme Design and implement processes for all areas of prospect management Create concise profiles on existing Supporters, Supporters attending events and new Supporters Identify new prospect leads for fundraisers across the Fundraising Directorate, as per agreed KPI’s Manage a high level of varied research requests from fundraisers with agility and timeliness as per agreed Service Level Agreements Collate and disseminate information about relevant supporter networks and peer links to colleagues to support fundraising activities Work with fundraisers to improve their knowledge of potential donors, resulting in an increase of successful fundraising asks Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the Friends, Legacy, Major Donor and Corporate programmes Manage and lead monthly prospect allocation and tracking meetings Communicate and present prospect research findings to teams on a regular basis Ensure high levels of accuracy and presentation are maintained across all research output Relationship Management Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal teams Data Management Design team data capture processes that adhere to the Data Protection Act Lead on all recording of data, ensuring it is accurately captured on the Raisers Edge in adherence to the Data Protection Act Create & manage KPI reports to track supporters progression from Identification to Stewardship Key Technical Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Behaviours: Key skills Outstanding stakeholder and account management skills Ability to work to the highest standards, to be analytical, methodical and thorough with meticulous attention to detail Exceptional organisational skills, good at prioritising and balancing multiple requirements Ability to collect and amass information rapidly, identifying key points and drawing conclusions Sound judgement and decision making skills to enable effective stakeholder management and engagement Ability to think laterally and make links Self-motivated, confident and well presented Adept at foreseeing obstacles/barriers and finding solutions to overcome them Excellent relationship development skills and ability to network effectively with a wide range of people Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, tailoring delivery to suit audience Highly articulate writing skills, with the ability to originate and edit copy Team player, able to work collaboratively with other teams across the organisation Ability to work calmly under pressure, flexibility to meet the demands of variable workload Creative and innovative ability to identify opportunities and respond with creative solutions Experience Significant experience of developing and delivering a prospect research strategy Relevant experience of collecting and analysing fundraising research data; using a variety of research resources (online systems, specialist publications, informal networks etc) Significant experience of identifying new leads/prospects for fundraisers with a high conversion rate Significant experience of producing concise profiles and network lists for individuals Relevant experience of creating and delivering engaging communications Relevant experience of project management – working on several projects at one time with multiple priorities Experience of working autonomously and making decisions under pressure Relevant experience of developing and building mutually beneficial short/long-term relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers Experience of negotiating lower costs with suppliers Relevant experience of interacting with and influencing senior stakeholders, VIP’s and HNWI Experience of setting and achieving personal objectives Other Educated to degree level or equivalent Strong IT skills including knowledge of Windows, MS office and sector recognised databases Understanding of sector best practise and relevant fundraising/charity legislation (data protection, health and safety etc) Understanding of the key principles of fundraising, marketing and PR Understanding of WorldwidCancer Research vision, purpose and achievements Willing to work occasional evenings, travel frequently and stay away from home Written by: Evaluated by: Version: SBG V1
