Worship Services
We offer two styles of worship every Sunday, Contemporary at 9:00 a.m. and Traditional at 10:45 a.m.
with fellowship time between. Communion is typically offered at the first worship service each month.
Professional childcare is offered during each of the worship times. Plan to stay or come early for refreshments and
fellowship between services. Don’t forget to wear your name tag!
Worship in December
On December 7 we gather for one service at 10:45 a.m. for a Christmas Choir Cantata and message about the
reality of the Nativity. On December 14 we reflect on the scandalous love of God. On December 21 we talk
about what we can give Jesus for Christmas. On December 24 we celebrate with a lessons and carols service at
10:30 a.m. and the children’s program and candle light service at 4:00 p.m. On December 28 we hear from a
guest speaker, Rev. Christine Rouze.
All Church Conference
On Sunday December 7 we have a potluck meal and our “All Church Conference” meeting.
This is a time to celebrate this past year of ministry and plan for the next. We will also be
acting on the removal of members who have not lived out their vows, electing those gifted to
serve in ministry positions, and adopting a ministry budget to support our mission. The “All
Church Conference” is open to all members and friends of Christ Church, though only
members can vote on actions presented. Please plan on coming for our noon potluck meal
and the meeting to follow at 12:30 p.m.
GIVING TUESDAY
Tuesday the 2nd of December is Giving Tuesday.
It follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday and is
for those of us who would like to give something
back. We are inviting you to donate the following
Sunday, December 7th to our missionaries the Kies
in Zimbabwe. This donation will help with their
farm development funds. Giving Tuesday is meant
to be an on-line event – but we thought it would be
more meaningful to give in church.
December 24th at 10:30 a.m.
(lessons & carols) and 4:00-5:30
p.m. (kids program & candle light)
in the Sanctuary.

From the Pastor’s Desk
With the coming of winter is the coming of the Advent season as well. Advent
begins on November 30th this year. Advent marks the beginning of the “Church year.”
The Christian year starts with our preparation to celebrate the coming of Christ through
the birth in the manger. Advent starts four weeks before Christmas day, the day of
remembering God’s entrance into our world in the person of Jesus.
As we prepare to celebrate Christmas this year many will be busy decorating the house and tree, baking
cookies, getting gifts, making plans to gather with family and friends, all while still keeping up with work and
the regular weekly activities. All of this can cause some stress this holiday season and to lose focus on what
Christmas is really all about. My hope is that among all the busyness, we take time to welcome once again the
coming of our Lord, to remember the “reason for the season.”
Christmas is an awesome event as we remember that over 2000 years ago God almighty humbled
Himself into the form of a little baby, Jesus gave up the glory of heaven to dwell among us, Jesus comes to be
Emmanuel: God with us! How amazing is that, God loves us so much that God comes to us in a personal way,
to teach us, to heal us, to love us, to die and rise for us, and then to send the Spirit to transform and empower us.
We can never forget that the joy of Christmas is that it points to the love revealed on the cross and the hope
discovered in the empty tomb. The Christmas event reveals just how much God has given to the world. As we
celebrate this great gift of Jesus I challenge us to think about what we will do in response.
It is like a present sitting under the Christmas tree with your name on it, the gift inside has been picked
with you in mind, the price has been paid and it’s offered to you freely. The giving is only a part of the process
though, the gift does not do us any good if it is not received, opened, and claimed. God has sent us the gift of
Jesus, Jesus comes to share God’s love and forgiveness with you and me, with the world. Will we accept it?
How will we respond to it? When I get a gift I usually want to show my thanks. We can show our thanks to
God by accepting the love God offers and by reciprocating it through worship and service, by getting to know
God more every day through prayer and Scripture reading, by offering ourselves to God as God offers Himself
to us. We can be disciples, giving our lives to Jesus to be molded and taught by Him and to be transformed and
used by Him to bless others.
So this Christmas be sure you take time to remember and celebrate the real reason for the season, God’s
great gift to us, Jesus the Christ! God Bless you all, have a great Christmas this year.
God Bless,
Pastor George J. Kafer
P.S. Mark your calendar and plan on attending our All Church Conference meeting on December 7 at 12:30
p.m. with a potluck beforehand at noon, please bring a dish to pass. FYI: There is no noon Packer game!
SCRIP
On various Sundays after worship there will be gift cards to various stores on hand for
immediate purchase as well. The program is simple, free, and allows you to be a good steward of your
funds as you donate money for ministry by spending it on your regular purchases since the church gets
a percentage for the company for each card purchased! If you wish to place orders online go to
www.shopwithscrip.com to register, the enrollment code for Christ Church is 91LDB747375L9.
Paper order forms will be available at the church as well. Purchases can be paid online from your
bank account or to Christ Church by check. Questions, call Kelly Swiggett at 262-633-5973. We will
place orders for each week on the 2nd & 4th Mondays for pick up by Sunday. Payments must be in by
9:00 a.m. on those Mondays otherwise the order will be held until the next order date.
www.RightNowMedia.org
Our church is looking help you live out your faith throughout the week. We are inviting you to have a
free account to a video library called Right Now Media. It's essentially the "Netflix of Video Bible
Studies" because you will have instant access to thousands of great videos for kids, youth, parents,
singles, married couples and more. You can view these videos from your phone, tablet or computer. If
you want to sign up please email the church office.
Christ Church Hospitality
We rearranged the fellowship hour floor plan to include more tables! Invite someone to sit with
you, change it up once in a while and play musical tables - get to know more people or new people
during this time. The Christmas season can be a time when people want to reconnect with their church
or faith. Hospitality is so important to make that reconnection a meaningful experience. If you see
someone you haven’t seen for a while – talk with them and welcome them. If you see someone you
don’t know invite them to sit with you during fellowship hour and get to know them.
Going to a church for the first time can be scary! A person coming may be in pain, missing
something in their life, scared about raising a child, new to the community or remembering a problem
at another church. Christ church wants to intentionally try to make first visits comfortable for new
people. If you see someone you don’t know offer a friendly smile and welcome. Offer a handshake if
it seems right.
Think of hospitality this way, treat any stranger as you would Jesus – so you know exactly what
to do and especially how to treat them with hospitality! One person’s open heart and mind can lead to
change in many lives… Let us continue to be a welcoming congregation!

Apportionment Giving
Christ Church has a history of 100%
apportionment giving, allowing us to
help transform lives by God’s love.
Apportionments provide for ministries
that directly help over 50,000 people in
Wisconsin and many more beyond. In
2014 our apportionment is $50,483, if
we each give faithfully to the general
fund and if able a special gift for
apportionments, $130 a year per
member, we can continue to support
connectional ministries and free up
more of our general funds to increase
outreach and ministry in our local area.
Stewardship Makes a Difference!
Thank you for all the ways you support
ministry. This newsletter has examples
of how our church is making a
difference in people’s lives through
your giving! It is good to see people
trusting in God and answering His
call to give. People are offering
themselves to serve and their financial
giving (several tithing 10% of income,
or working toward tithing)! Check the
connection table for Electronic Fund
Transfer forms and ways to give of your
time and talent as well. As you respond
to God’s call in the giving of your time,
talent, and resources remember if you
have a need contact Pastor George.
Loving Arms Prayer Shawl Ministry
In 2006 when this ministry team was formed, they had no
idea of how many shawls would be made at Christ Church.
It was a two of members who determined that this kind of
outreach was needed in reaching out to people in our
congregation.
The duo increased to 12 and that is the membership, give
or take a few during the year, as people travel. Not all members
are Christ Church members. Half come from other
denominations. Participation is not limited to Methodists. The
requirement is in knitting or crocheting a prayer shawl is that it
measures 60” long and 24” wide.
Looking back there was jubilance when the team had
made 100 shawls. There was celebration then and also when the
team hit the 500 mark. Now that the team has reached 1000 there
is the joy of accomplishment to be sure. However the team is
celebrating in only one way and that is to thank the congregation
of Christ Church for backing their efforts with finances for yarn
and the congregation’s interest in the distribution of shawls to
people who would benefit by receiving one. Shawls have gone
all over The United States and to countries overseas.
The Loving Arms Prayer Shawl Team expresses its
appreciation to those who have generously given support. GOD
Bless you, as the team gives its thanks to GOD in reaching the
1000 mark. They now have set their sights on reaching
2000. The clicking of needles continues even as you read this
message.

Outreach & Witness
Eye on Evangelism
Here’s a thought relating to evangelism, our call
to share the faith and invite others into God’s
family.
Invite and Feel Good About It!
Did you know that Christianity is a faith
meant to be shared by people telling others
about Jesus! The proof is in the Great
Commission found in Matthew 28 where
Jesus says “go.” He commands us to go and
tell, go and teach, go and baptize, go and
make more disciples. Did you also know
that you can feel good about going and
inviting people to Christ Church because
this church has a history of sharing God’s
love, doing good, and forming people in
the way of Jesus. And it’s still true today,
there are some really strong disciples of
Jesus here and this church is still impacting
our community, connecting people with
God, and carrying out His good work in the
world, making a real difference in people’s
lives in Jesus name. So share the faith and
invite people to join us in finding meaning,
purpose, and hope.
Our Christmas offering will be divided in thirds.
One third will go to the Hmong House of Good
News. They provide meaningful assistance and
fellowship to elderly Hmong people who speak
little or no English having come here as refugees
after the Vietnam War. The second recipient will
be the scholarship fund of Africa University
which prepares students to be ministers as well as
farmers and teachers in all the African countries.
Without scholarships, many of the students could
not attend. The third selection is our own ASP to
provide seed money as they prepare to head to
Appalachia to assist people by making their
homes safer and weather proof. As you prepare
for the Christmas celebrations, please make a
Christmas offering.
SAFELY HOME
Jesus said, "In My Father's house are many dwelling
places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go
to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place
for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself,
that where I am, there you may be also." (John 14:2-3)
Safety is not ultimately found in a secure place but
only found in God... The truth is all of us will die. At
the moment of your death, the only thing that matters
is your relationship with Jesus Christ. He is still the
last and the best hope for all of us; He is the only one
who truly can keep us safe.
-- Nick Lillo
Parents Night Out – December 5

KNOWING GOD
Live in such a way that those who know
you, but don't know God, will come to know
God because they know you.

singles, grandparents) are invited to drop off their
kids (3 months-5th grade) at Christ Church for free

activities, and snacks will be provided.
This is a way to support families in our
congregation and community by allowing parents
