Traveling with your own art historian will provide memories to last a lifetime as you view major art masterpieces in “the city of lights.” From the medieval cathedral of Notre Dame to 19th-century Impressionist paintings, each day is carefully planned to enhance every moment. (Or join us in Paris Oct. 18) Sunday October 18: Arrive in Paris no later than 3 pm. Transfer to your hotel located across from the Tuileries Gardens. Relax before your included welcome dinner. (D) Monday October 19: After breakfast, depart by mini-motorcoach for a visit to the magnificent Gothic cathedral at Chartres. Dr. Kirn will help you ‘read’ the sculpture on the church’s facades and lead you on a tour of the interior including some of the more than 170 stained glass windows. Lunch will be at a local creperie and you’ll have time to wander through the historic district. Evening is free. (B,L) Tuesday October 20: Discover medieval Paris with Dr. Kirn as she examines Notre Dame Cathedral and the royal chapel of SainteChapelle, both on the Ile de la Cite, the oldest inhabited area of Paris. The afternoon is free to explore the Left Bank as we meet for dinner this evening at Le Procope, the oldest café in Paris. We enjoy an evening cruise on the Seine River after dinner. (B,D) Wednesday October 21: Today discover Renaissance Paris at the Louvre Museum where we focus on some outstanding works of Renaissance and Baroque art. Have lunch at a typical neighborhood bistro followed by a walking tour of the Marais, an historic district, including the Place des Vosges. Late afternoon and evening are free. (B,L) Thursday October 22: Today a true highlight as we visit Monet’s home and gardens at Giverny. Morning and evening free. (B) Friday October 23: Walk through the Tuileries Gardens to the Orangerie to see Monet’s famous Water Lilies murals. Then it’s on to the Musee d’Orsay where Dr. Kirn will introduce you to some of the most important Impressionist paintings in the collection. Afternoon & Evening free. (B) Saturday October 24: Enjoy the entire day exploring more of Paris on your own. Optional tour to the Paris of Versailles. Tonight meet for a farewell dinner. (B.D) Sunday October 25: Filled with lasting memories of Parisian art, transfer back to the airport for your flight home.
