Welcome to Faith
We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married,
divorced, gay, filthy rich, or dirt poor. We extend a special welcome to
those who are crying new-borns, skinny as a rail or could afford to
lose a few pounds.
We welcome you if you can sing like an angel or can’t carry a note in a
bucket. You’re welcome here if you’re “just browsing,” just woke up or
just got out of jail. We don’t care if you’re an expert in doing church,
or haven’t been in church since little Joey’s Baptism.
We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown
up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome
soccer moms, NASCAR dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, lattesippers, vegetarians, and junk-food eaters. We welcome those who are
in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you’re having
problems or you’re down in the dumps or if you don’t like “organized
religion,” we’ve been there too.
If you blew all your offering money at the track, you’re welcome here.
We offer a special welcome to those who think the earth is flat, work
too hard, don’t work, can’t spell, or because grandma is in town and
wanted to go to church.
We welcome those who are inked, pierced or both. We offer a special
welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, had religion
shoved down your throat as a kid or got lost in traffic and wound up
here by mistake. We welcome tourists, seekers and doubters, bleeding
hearts … and you!

ELDER
The Lord says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I make
your enemies a footstool for your feet.”
The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion; you
will rule in the midst of your enemies
Your troops will be willing on your day of battle.
Arrayed in holy majesty, from the womb of the dawn you
will receive the dew of your youth.
The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a
priest forever, in the order of Malchizedek.”
The Lord is at your right hand; He will crush kings on the
day of his wrath.
Hymn of Praise: No 53 (Standing, Congregation, Verses 1,2,3, and 5 only)
“Praise to the Lord, the Almighty”
Praise the Lord; O my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the Lord, O my
soul, and forget not all his benefits. Ps. 103:1, 2
God’s Word Examines Our Hearts: (Seated)
ELDER
So, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the council and said,
“What are we to do? For this man performs many signs. If we let him
go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come
and take away both our place and our nation.” But one of them,
Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know
nothing at all. Nor do you understand that it is better for you that one
man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should
perish.” He did not say this of his own accord, but being high priest
that year he prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, and not
for the nation only, but also to gather into one the children of God
who are scattered abroad. So, from that day on they made plans to put
him to death. (John 11:47-53)
Confession of Sin: (Seated, Unison)
ELDER
Father, how often I fail to rest in in Jesus’ perfection and
perfect sacrifice as my great High Priest and strive to
establish my own perfection and performance to purify my
conscience. O Spirit, show me Jesus as my High Priest this
morning that I might find all my joy and peace in Christ Jesus
and seek satisfaction in no other source. Amen
Silently Confessing Our Personal Sins: (Seated)
Assurance of Pardon: (Seated)
ELDER
But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things
that have come, then through the greater and more perfect
tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he
entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the
blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus
securing an eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and
bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a
heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much
more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit
offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience
from dead works to serve the living God. (Heb. 9:11-14)
Hymn of Assurance: No. 693 (Standing, Congregation)
“Blessed Assurance”
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. Ps. 146:2

Leviticus 8:1-13
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Take Aaron and his sons with him,
and the garments and the anointing oil and the bull of the sin offering
and the two rams and the basket of unleavened bread. 3 And assemble
all the congregation at the entrance of the tent of meeting.” 4 And
Moses did as the Lord commanded him, and the congregation was
assembled at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
5
And Moses said to the congregation, “This is the thing that the Lord
has commanded to be done.” 6 And Moses brought Aaron and his sons
and washed them with water. 7 And he put the coat on him and tied the
sash around his waist and clothed him with the robe and put the ephod
on him and tied the skillfully woven band of the ephod around him,
binding it to him with the band. 8 And he placed the breastpiece on him,
and in the breastpiece he put the Urim and the Thummim. 9 And he set
the turban on his head, and on the turban, in front, he set the golden
plate, the holy crown, as the Lord commanded Moses.
10
Then Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and
all that was in it, and consecrated them. 11 And he sprinkled some of it
on the altar seven times, and anointed the altar and all its utensils and
the basin and its stand, to consecrate them. 12 And he poured some of
the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him to consecrate him.
13
And Moses brought Aaron’s sons and clothed them with coats and
tied sashes around their waists and bound caps on them, as the Lord
commanded Moses.

Partaking of the Bread (verses 1-3)
Partaking of the Cup (verses 4-6)
 Communion, also called The Lord’s Supper, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committed followers of
Jesus Christ to partake of this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation which proclaims the
gospel, who are at peace with God and with their neighbor, and who seek strength to live more faithfully for
Christ. If you are not a Christian, or if you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this
time in prayer. We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and
with His people, the church.
 Baptized children of an age appropriate to understand the preached Word who have been admitted to the Supper
by the leadership of a congregation that proclaims the Gospel, or who have been admitted to the table by our
Session, are invited to partake. Please see a member of the Session for information on communing membership
for your children.
 Both wine and grape juice are offered for communion. The wine is served in the outer ring of the communion
trays and the center rings contain juice. After the Lord’s Supper, elders will be available at the front of the
auditorium for prayer or to respond to questions.
Communion Prayers
Prayer for Those Searching for Truth: Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth and the life. If what you
claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Grant that I might be
undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. Give me an understanding for you
that is coherent, convincing, and leads to the life that you promise. Amen.
Prayer of Belief: Lord, Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed, but through
you, I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared to hope. I thank you for paying my debt, bearing my
punishment on the cross and offering forgiveness and new life. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead,
I turn from my sins and receive you as my savior. Amen.
Prayer of Struggling Against Sin: Lord Jesus, grant that I may see in you the fulfillment of all my needs, and may
turn from every false satisfaction to find complete satisfaction in you. Enable me to lay aside the sin that clings so
closely to me, and run with perseverance the race that you have set before me, looking only to you, the pioneer
and champion of my faith. Amen.
