The midterm assessment for 7th grade Social Studies is based on two performance-based projects, not
a written test. This allows students to have choice in the project, work on research skills, and create a
project of their choosing. The first part of the midterm will be based on Ancient Egypt. Students will
have time in the library and class to work on this project, however, must work on it at home as well in
order to meet the deadline.
Requirements:
1. Students must choose either an Egyptian Pharaoh, God, or Goddess to research.
2. Students should use the research questions as a guide to help them with the project.
3. Students should choose one of the following projects to complete: (Please check one box.)
□ Written Report:
o You must have 3 paragraphs (5 to 7 sentences in length).
o You must have a main idea sentence in your introduction paragraph.
o You must cite your evidence when writing.
o You must include a Bibliography of your sources. You need three sources.
o You must use complete sentences and correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
□ Power Point:
o You must have 9 Power Point slides (Title Slide, 1 question/answer per slide (7),
Bibliography slide.)
o You must cite your evidence when writing.

□ Booklet:
o You must have 9 pages in your booklet (Cover page, 1 question/answer page (7),

not allowed. Your booklet must be colored.
o You must cite your evidence when writing.
o You must include a Bibliography of your sources. You need three sources.

search.
