POST-SECONDARY
1. University of Saskatchewan


Grade 12 students who have applied to the U of S should send final grades from semester
one and a list of semester two classes, as well as mid-term grades from any non-semestered
classes.
The deadline for applications to Engineering and Kinesiology is February 15th and
preliminary documentation is due by March 15th.
2. University of Regina


The deadline for applications to the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science
in Nursing (SCBScN) is February 15th at 4:30 p.m. All supporting documentation is due by
4:30 p.m. on February 28th.
The Faculty of Education application deadline is March 1st.






Applications for high demand programs (Combined Lab & X-Ray Technology, Dental
Hygiene, Medical Lab Assistant, Medical Lab Technology, Medical Radiologic Technology,
Power Engineering Technology, and Practical Nursing) must be in by 4:30 p.m. on the
February 15th.
Note! Online applicants pay only $50. Individuals who choose to submit a paper application
must pay $75.
Campus Tours will be held at Kelsey Campus in Saskatoon on February 4th, 11th, and
25th, and at Woodland Campus in Prince Albert on February 11th, 25th and 27th.
Pre-registration is required two days in advance.
SIAST After Hours: Can't make it during the day? Parents and potential students are
welcome to attend general Campus tours of SIAST Kelsey campus at 7:00 p.m. on February
11th. The session will include a tour of the campus, as well as an overview of the programs
and services SIAST provides. To register, please contact Debra Stevenson, student

Great Plains College
Programs are filling quickly for 2014-15. Seats are limited and students are accepted on a first
come, first served basis (with the exception of the Practical and Registered Nursing programs).
The full-time certificate, diploma and degree programs at Great Plains College include: Business
(SIAST); Continuing Care Assistant (SIAST); Educational Assistant (SIAST); Early Childhood
Education (SIAST); Electrician (SIAST); Office Administration (Lakeland College); Practical
Nursing (SIAST); Power Engineering – Fourth and Third Class (SIAST & SAIT: This program has
developed a waitlist. Students are strongly encouraged to apply as soon as possible in order to
increase their likelihood of getting in this fall); Welding (SIAST); Youth Care Worker (SIAST);
University (includes U of R Bachelor of Social Work, the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of
Science in Nursing and a variety of first-year courses from both U of R and U of S).
5. University of Alberta
Aboriginal students are invited to the University of Alberta’s Aboriginal Student Discovery
Day, held Friday, March 7th. This full day event will provide students with a chance to see
what the U of A has to offer for Aboriginal Students and provide them with an opportunity to
engage with staff and students.
SCHOLARSHIPS
1. Applications for Competitive Entrance Awards at the University of Saskatchewan must
be in by 11:59 p.m. on February 15th and all supporting documentation is due by March 1st.
Once you have applied, please tell the career counsellor in your school so your marks may be
sent to the U of S in support of your application for Competitive Entrance Awards.
2. The deadline for University of Regina Entrance Awards is March 15th. While it is ideal for
students to have a U of R ID when they register on SAMS, it is not a requirement. However,
students must have applied for admission by the scholarship application deadline to be eligible
for consideration. Contact the Student Awards and Financial Aid office at 306-585-5556 or
scholarships@uregina.ca if you have any questions.
3. Great Plains College Entrance Scholarships range from $500-$5,000, with a minimum of
$500 being awarded to every full-time student in a student loan-eligible program. Students must
apply by April 30th to be eligible for a scholarship in 2014-15.
4. The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture offers the Agriculture Student Scholarship
which awards one winning scholarship valued at $4,000 and three runner-up scholarships
valued at $2,000. Produce a three-minute creative video or write a well-researched fact-based
1,000-word story that showcases one of the Ministry's four agriculture awareness key themes.
Application deadline is March 1st, 2014.
5. Canadian Agri-Business Education Foundation awards six $2,500 scholarships annually to
Canadian Grade 12 students who are entering into an accredited agriculture college or university.
Scholarships are awarded to students based on a combination of leadership attributes, academic
standing, and an essay response to the question, "Why am I pursuing a career in agriculture?"
Agriculture is an exciting and growing field. Whether you're looking to become a plant breeder,
an agri-marketer, a researcher, part of the agri-retail industry, a PhD, or a farmer, it all starts
with an undergraduate degree or diploma in agriculture. Entries must be received by CABEF on
or before March 1st, 2014 5:00PM EST. Winners will be selected and notified no later than
April 30th, 2014.
6. RE/MAX of Western Canada has renewed the Quest of Excellence bursary program for
2014. They are again offering (16) $1,000 bursaries for a total of $16,000 to Grade 12
students. This program was established by RE/MAX to recognize the success and ongoing
pursuits of Western Canadian students in regards to leadership and community contribution
initiatives. Students can enter online at www.remax.ca/quest-excellence and the deadline
to do so is midnight March 10th, 2014. Only online entries will be accepted.
7. Every year, SaskTel awards scholarships of $3,000 to students attending post-secondary
institutions in Saskatchewan who are studying in a field directly related to
telecommunications. To be eligible, students must (i) be Saskatchewan residents, (ii) be enrolled
or plan to enroll in full-time studies (for at least 8 months) at a post-secondary educational
institution in Saskatchewan, (iii) be enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program directly
related to telecommunications (programs may include Computer Science, Engineering (electrical,
electronic, computer, software, telecommunications), Accounting, and Business Administration;
and (iv) have a minimum 75% average in most recent educational standing. The deadline for
applications is March 31st.
8. CAA Saskatchewan awards three annual entrance scholarships of $2,500 each to students
attending the province's major post-secondary educational facilities - University of Saskatchewan,
University of Regina and SIAST. Applicants must be either a CAA Saskatchewan Member or child
of a Member, and a resident of Saskatchewan. The scholarships, including the selection of
successful candidates, are administered through each educational institution. Application forms
and other details are also available from the institution. Applicants are evaluated on academic
excellence, economic needs and other factors, including participation in extra-curricular activities
or community involvement. Deadlines to apply, along with links to further information, are as
follows: University of Saskatchewan: February 15th; University of Regina: based on
semester; SIAST: (Centennial Merit Entrance Scholarship application form): Deadline depends
on when program starts. CAA Saskatchewan also awards one entrance scholarship of $2,500 to
an employee or child of an employee. The successful candidate is determined by academic
excellence and selected by CAA Saskatchewan.

CAREER EVENTS
1. The University of Saskatchewan’s annual TD Discovery Days in Health Sciences will be held
on Friday, February 14th, 2014. This event is open to all high school students as well as
interested teachers and/or guidance counsellors, however, the main target audience is high
school students of aboriginal heritage. Participants will hear an inspiring keynote lecture, take
part in interactive workshops and join in a discussion with a panel of health care
professionals and academics. To aid communications we ask that students register through
their school.
2. Health Link will be held in Saskatoon on Wednesday, March 12th. This one day event, open
to grade 10 and 11 students, focuses on participants exploring a wide variety of opportunities in
health care. Students learn about careers in health care through workshops and hands‐on
activities. This is a partnership between the SIEC and the Saskatoon Health Region.
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES
1. The Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts will be hosting auditions in Saskatoon on
February 20, 2014! The Academy (located in Toronto, ON) is a not-for-profit educational
institution providing world-class performing arts training to young artists (in dancing, acting, and
singing). Auditions will assess applicants interested in September 2014 or January 2015 entrance.
2. CISV Saskatoon is hosting a mini-camp weekend March 7 to 9, 2014 for youth ages 8 to 18.
This 3-day camp provides an introduction to CISV (a non-profit charitable organization that
educates and inspires action for a more just and peaceful world) and is a great way to spend a
weekend. The theme for this mini-camp (held at Beaver Creek) is Pac-Man and activities will
focus on diversity, human rights, sustainable development, conflict & resolution. If you would like

3. Grade 11 and 12 students: Having the ability to speak a second language can open the door to
many exciting career opportunities. Explore is a five-week French language bursary
program that allows participants to discover another region of Canada while learning
French. Priority for bursaries is given to first-time applicants. Students may apply for the
program after having completed at least Grade 11 before the start of the program.
The deadline for applications is February 28th, 2014.
4. Are you looking for a great experience this summer? The Saskatchewan Co-operative
Youth Program offers a unique leadership training opportunity each July & August called the
Co-op Camp. It's a leadership program for youth ages 12 to 18 and is a great opportunity for
personal development, leadership training, co-operative education, recreation and lots of fun with
participants spending a week at Candle Lake or Last Mountain Lake.
5. If you are an Aboriginal youth, and are interested in a challenging summer experience that
delivers hands-on skills development, encourages teamwork, provides physical fitness and
promotes cultural awareness, then Bold Eagle is the program for you! It is a unique summer
employment program that combines Aboriginal culture and teachings with military training. It's a
challenging, yet rewarding opportunity that helps to develop self-confidence, self-discipline,
teamwork, time management, respect and fitness. The program will be held in Wainwright, AB
from July 8 to August 16, 2013. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2014.
6. The 2014 edition of Relevance Magazine: Career Options for Your Future is now available
at your school or online. The theme this year is Trending Your Career, and included are articles,
tips, profiles, links, resources to help you do just that as well as the 2014 Job Chart!
