Here’s how I’d propose rolling out all the year-content over the next two weeks to make sure we have 1) something new every day and 2) a way to promote it to maximize clicks. (As of this moment we need 23,200 clicks in the next 2 weeks.) Could be good to promote as “something new every day” so that people will hopefully keep coming back. Monday, December 21: Memorable Quotes #1 (and then in the top box on Friday) Tuesday, December 22: Doyle’s Vitriol Video (in recent videos on Friday) Wednesday, December 23: Top Domestic Stories (that’s you, Lyndsi) Thursday, December 24: Top Political Stories (second box on Friday) Monday, December 28: Memorable Quotes #2 Tuesday, December 29: 2015 By the Numbers (and in then in the top box on Friday) Wednesday, December 30: Top Foreign Stories (which gives me time to write it next week Thursday, December 31: Marijuana video (in recent videos on Friday) OK, here’s the status of the content I’ve created: Memorable Quotes: I’ve already fully built out the web pages for the 2 lists of memorable quotes, they just need to be published. We should do this one first since it’s better: http://www.pbs.org/weta/washingtonweek/blogpost/16-memorable-quotes-2016-campaign-trail Then this one: http://www.pbs.org/weta/washingtonweek/blog-post/16-more-memorablequotes-2016-campaign-trail Please change the date (in the authoring information at the bottom) before publishing! These need a heavy push on social media and please be pushy with PBS about posting these. We can also solicit people’s favorite quotes and maybe make a user-generated list. I’ve made graphics of 19 of the quotes that can be used on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Most are for that first list. But there are 6 from the second list. They’ve got the letter B before the title. And the photoshop file is in there, too. There’s also a stupid little jpg I created as the thumbnail that incorporates all the headshots and a donkey and elephant. That photoshop file is there, too. 2015 By the Numbers The page is built, but obviously update the numbers to be as up-to-date as possible. We should keep “as of XX date” on some of them that are likely to change. I’ve also sent Morgan’s list that I’ve been updated a bit. It’s got links to citations and places that can easily be checked to update numbers. So I put in a few pictures just to break it up. But I didn’t want to go overboard. So I thought of it as sections – you’ll see. And you were right – no blog category required! Please change the date (in the authoring information at the bottom) before publishing! http://www.pbs.org/weta/washingtonweek/blog-post/2015-by-the-numbers Top Political Stories: Page is ready to go. Please change the date (in the authoring information at the bottom) before publishing! http://www.pbs.org/weta/washingtonweek/blog-post/big-political-stories-2015 Year-end videos: We tape 3 year-end videos. The Ash Carter video is already up -- leaving the marijuana ballot initiatives and political rhetoric. For both of them, I’ve done most of the publishing. Here’s what’s left: Cove Assets created, just publish. iTunes links created, just “make final” and then publish. YouTube assets created, just make public. Pages on the website built, JUST CHANGE THE DATE and publish. Publish to Facebook. And here’s the metadata if you need it/want it. Marijuana Ballot Initiatives: Title: Marijuana Legalization at the Voting Booth Long: Marijuana legalization was on the ballot in several states in 2015, and Morning Consult’s Reid Wilson expects the trend to continue in 2016. 17 states are considering marijuana ballot initiatives including: Nevada, Florida and Michigan. In California, there are already 10 potential measures being considered. Short: 17 states are considering marijuana legalization efforts in 2016. He says that the rhetoric used today is the peak of a long-term trend of voter frustration, turned to anger. The two ends of the political spectrum are no longer talking, but are shouting, and he says Republicans, after seven years without control of the White House, are angrier this election than Democrats. Short: The two ends of the political spectrum aren’t talking – they’re shouting.
