The instructions will be given and the lab will be conducted. Activities: Lab exercise on water, it’s properties and how they work and when they don’t work will be done by the students. They will also begin the lab on eggs which will continue for the next 4 days. Assessment: They will complete the lab in class and turn them in ACCOMMODATIONS: NONE NEEDED Standard: B-2.5 Obj: To discuss the experimental “eggs” and the process of diffusion and its importance in biology Lecture Topics: Diffusion and its importance in biological systems Activities: 1) View the experimental eggs which were placed in vinegar on Sept. 17. Then we’ll weigh the egg and place in a beaker of corn syrup. 2)Then we will play a diffusion “game” where the students throw papers across the room at one another for 3 minutes. I’ll stop them and we’ll discuss and do the toss again and count the results afterward. 3)Lecture on diffusion Assessment: The students will complete a information guide on the cell membrane and diffusion NEEDEDACCOMMODATIONS: Additional time to complete task, Teacher provided notes, Peer tutors, Preferential seating Standard: 2.A.1-2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 Standard: B-2.5 Obj: To complete virtual labs on carbon and it’s properties Obj: To discuss the experimental “eggs” and the process of and the enzyme catalase and to look at the eggs and continue osmosis and its importance in biology Lecture Topics: Osmosis and its uses in biology that lab Lecture Topics: We will discuss the labs to be completed Activities: 1) View the eggs from Sept 21, weigh them and place Activities: 1)We will look at the eggs and make changes to them them in a beaker of corn syrup 2) I will lecture on osmosis and its 2)We will go to the back computer lab to complete the labs importance in biological systems Assessment: The labs will be completed in class and paperwork Assessment: Students will work on the worksheet from yesterday and questions on the lab will be turned in at the end of class to complete the section on osmosis ACCOMMODATIONS: NONE NEEDED NEEDEDACCOMMODATIONS: Additional time to complete task, Teacher provided notes, Peer tutors, Preferential seating Standard: 2.A.1-2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 Standard: B-2.5 Obj: To continue the egg lab and do a lab on protein Obj: To discuss the experimental “eggs” and the process of chemistry active transport Lecture Topics: We will discuss the labs to be completed Lecture Topics: Active transport and its process in biological Activities: 1) We will look at the eggs and make changes to them systems according to procedure 2)We will do a protein chemistry lab in Activities: 1)View the eggs from Sept 22, weigh them and place class after discussing the lab together in a beaker of colored water 2)I will lecture on active transport, Assessment: The lab should be completed in class and the facilitated transport and their importance in biological systems questions are due at the end of class Assessment: Students will finish the sheet from Monday and turn it in. ACCOMMODATIONS: NONE NEEDED NEEDEDACCOMMODATIONS: Additional time to complete task, Teacher provided notes, Peer tutors, Preferential seating Standard: 2.A.1-2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 Standard: B-2.5 Obj:.To continue the egg lab and do a lab on pineapple enzyme Obj: To discuss the experimental “eggs” and give them the action in jello information for paper due next week (see below) and do a lab Lecture Topics: We will discuss the labs to be completed on osmosis and its process using gummy bears Activities: 1) We will look at the eggs and finish the lab today 2) Lecture Topics: The experimental “eggs” will be weighed and We will do a pineapple enzyme lab in jello today discussed. Information on the paper due next week will be given. Assessment: The labs are finished and students need to answer The lab will be introduced and those not completing paperwork any questions and turn them in today will go to the office and not participate. Activities: A lab on osmosis and it’s actions on gummy worms ACCOMMODATIONS: NONE NEEDED will be completed in the lab Assessment: A new assignment of the egg experiment will be given and a rough draft on a 5 paragraph paper will be due on Monday. It will be returned and a final paper will be due on Friday, October 2. (Due date will be on board). Also the lab paperwork and questions are due at the end of the class period. NEEDEDACCOMMODATIONS: Additional time to complete task, Teacher provided notes, Peer tutors, Preferential seating FRIDAY Standard: Obj: To discuss enzymes and their action in biological systems Lecture Topics: Enzymes and their actions in biological systems Activities: All activities from this week need to be finished Assessment: students should turn in all lab paperwork from this week today ACCOMMODATIONS: NONE NEEDED Standard: Obj:. To go over the information covered all week (diffusion, osmosis, active transport, and facilitated transport) and do a review for the test Monday Lecture Topics: To discuss and review the material covered this week and review for a test on the material next Monday Activities: After the review we will work on the rough drafts of the papers due on Monday also.
