After learning about my promotion to the position of Director of the U.K. Compliance Office I learned I
would have to relocate to London. I immediately began research into the country and city I would soon
be calling home. I discovered that, while on the surface it would appear to be an easy transition, there is
a lot to learn before I arrive.
In his article Mark Clouse recommends a three step process for those preparing to move overseas for
work. I’ve researched the corporate culture of the London offices as well as the social culture;
appropriate verbal and non-verbal communications, personal conduct and etiquette, and corporate
values.
