Fieldtrips Auditions were held on May 6th and 7th for our annual “Radley’s Got Talent!” show to be held on May 29th. Students will gather in the gym by grade to see their classmates perform their incredible talents. 4th graders will perform first at 8:30, followed by the 5th graders at 10:00. After lunch the 2nd graders will gather at 12:30 and 3rd graders at 2:00. Four acts from each grade level will then be chosen to perform at the all-school revue on June 5th. Parents are always invited to join us in the gym and encourage and support these talented students! Radley’s Bully Bite Parents, here is a question to talk with your child about! Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Repeat. Tis the season. Staff, students, families and communities are forever on the go during the month of May as the school year draws to a close. At Radley, we not only are closing down the current year but preparing for 2013/14. As the plane taxis to the unloading zone, we find some very anxious students as well as staff. Stay seated everybody! Congratulations to Ian Burns who was the 4th grade art winner. Last weekend I paused below a flowering tree at my daughter’s house to watch and listen to thousands of honey bees actively working the newly opened blooms. I couldn’t help but think that it’s not just humans who are working feverishly this month. I’m relatively certain that these tiny workers don’t’ take many recess breaks nor checkout and head home when school ends for the day. Luckily, they paid me no mind. Essay winners were Carly Ryan for 3rd grade, Raina Shaw for 4th grade, and Savannah Withrow for 5th grade. Bikes for Books winner were: Later my wife commented that my stopping to look and listen to the buzz was an oddity in itself. I had a list of ‘to do’s’ to take care of that day at Meg and Tom’s prior to heading out to the lake. Actually, I probably wouldn’t have noticed if one of the lawn sprinkler heads I needed to fix wasn’t located directly under the tree. I get a bit focused sometimes. 2nd grade: Rylie Martin and Hagen Kalista 3rd grade: Erin Schmidt and Jeremiah Gilleland 4th grade: Kim Neumann and Chase Kriendeman 5th grade: Haylee Broadhurst and Kaden McBreen Radley Mission Statement Here’s hoping you find a moment to pause and appreciate what’s happening around you this month.
