What is Health? • Health is defined as a combination of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being. • Everyday you make decisions that impact your health. • These three traits relate and create your total health. • The health triangle reflects the three sides of health, and can be used to ensure a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Achieving a Balanced Lifestyle • Like a triangle, the three sides of health are all connected; when one side changes, the other two are affected. Your health effects your over all well-being, as well as your life span and potentially your eventual cause of death. • Being health means balancing the three sides of your triangle. • When your health is in balance, you are more likely to have a high level of wellness, and a high level of quality of life: the degree of overall satisfaction that a person gets from life. • Vocab: Wellness is an indication of your current health habits and behaviors.
