A Wrinkle in Time Final Project Board Game Project Directions: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. You are to create a board game that sequences the events that took place within the novel. Your game must include: All the various settings Each of the main characters Question cards about the characters, plot, and settings A rules/step-by-step directions sheet for how to play Your game must include a board. The spaces and places on the board should reflect the novel. You may pattern your game after a different game (Sorry!, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit) or create a whole new game (Saving Charles Wallace!). Your game must require drawing cards for one reason or another. You must include AT LEAST 30 cards. These cards should reflect information gained from the story itself. You may use them in one of the following ways: Space movers – (Sorry!) This should give information from the story that explains why the player either moves forward, backward, or receives a penalty of some sort. Example: Charles Wallace thought he could overcome the man with the red eyes. You lose a turn. Trivia questions – (Trivial Pursuit) Answer different questions about the plot, settings, or characters to move forward in the game. Example: Earn tesser points to move from planet to planet by answering trivia questions. Rewards/Penalty cards – (Monopoly) Cards used to advance or be penalized in one way or another, but again must reflect information from the story. Your directions must be clear and precise. It should explain how to set up the game, how to play it, and how to win. Suggestion: Give the directions to a friend or parent not in your group and see if they can set up and play it without your assistance. If not, adjust the directions until there is no help needed from you. Your board should be visually appealing. It should be colorful and neat. EVERY MEMBER OF THE GROUP MUST WORK ON THE PROJECT. STUDENTS FOUND TDOING LITTLE TO NO WORK WILL RECEIVE POINTS OFF OF THEIR GAME BOARD GAMES. Members of each group will evaluate one another on participation as well. Getting Started: 1. I will assign each student to a group 2. Each group should decide what type of game they will create and what the ultimate goal will be. (Examples: Saving Mr. Murry, overcoming the dark thing, destroy IT, tessering from planet to planet, etc.) 3. Decide how you will use the cards and what information you will use. (You will want to use your study guides and questions for this) You may not copy study guides or questions word for word, and you must be able to answer each question. Answers should be somewhere on the card (trivia only) 4. Design the game board. What will be on the board? How will you create the spaces? Plan the board out on paper first, and then create the board itself. 5. Design the playing pieces and decide how they will move. Will you need dice? A spinner? Extra cards? 6. What is the ultimate goal? 7. Plan out and then type up your rules/directions sheet. Although you are creating the game as a group, each member should be responsible for a different part of the game. Plan out the responsibilities using the student group evaluation sheet. Try and split up the responsibilities evenly. DO NOT FILL OUT THE RATING OR THE REASONING. WE WILL DO THIS IN CLASS THE DAY THE PROJECT IS DUE. THE WORK FOR THIS PROJECT WILL BE COMPLETED MOSTLY OUTSIDE OF CLASS. I will provide a small amount of time each day for groups to meet and get any additional planning completed. However, materials and supplies should be kept at home.
