1. In what way(s) can poverty influence one’s life positively?

Positive influences of poverty on one’s life may include:

 develop one’s ability to face hardships in life;

 help one to build self-esteem;

 strengthen one’s will to do better;

 build one’s sympathy for the poor and weak.

2 .

Do you agree with Schultz that service is an art?

Why or why not?

1. Do you think the service model of Starbucks fits the Chinese way of life well? Why or why not?

Tips

No, the service model of Starbucks, to a large extent, doesn’t fit our Chinese way of life.

Broadly speaking, we Chinese have a different pace of life, a different preference for drink, and a different social style. The differences in culture, custom and tradition may hinder Starbuck from going further in some suburban area or communities.

2. How do you understand the relationship between enterprises and communities?

Tips

To me, there is a mutual relationship between

the two:

 Enterprises have social responsibilities to fulfill, and therefore, they should contribute to communities.

 Communities should provide a friendly and safe environment for the growth of enterprises.
