Accomplishments:
 Developed and implemented a community-based physical activity program to improve the balance,
mobility, and fitness level of older adults.
 Conducted thorough pre- and post-assessments of all participants involved.
 Class sessions included exercises and activities focusing on the five health-related components of
physical fitness in addition to balance and mobility training. For participants with special
considerations (i.e., post-stroke, arthritis, osteoporosis, heart disease, type II diabetes, hypertension),
exercise modifications were provided and attention was given to ensure their safety and success.
 Managed a team of undergraduate and graduate student volunteers by coordinating coordinated
individual responsibilities.
 Marketed the program through flyer distribution to community businesses and residents, and by
attending the monthly Senior Advisory Committee Meeting at the local senior center.
