22nd Annual Conference
October 10th – 15th
Chicago, Illinois
Welcome to Chicago, Illinois!
The staff of the Chicago Zoological Society’s Brookfield Zoo, the John G. Shedd
Aquarium, and the Lincoln Park Zoo are proud to host the 22nd Annual Conference. I hope
that you’re all able to bring something to and take something back from this conference.
There’s a lot happening in the realm of green energy and sustainable practices, and there’s
more that we can all do. We’ve got a fantastic network of knowledgeable colleagues, so be
sure to take advantage of that, both at the conference as well as after. I hope that you’ll be
able to attend some great presentations, and please make sure to take time to stop and see all
of our great vendors. It’s because of them and their generous support that we’re able to hold
our conferences every year.

Special Presentation: Landscape Masterplanning 101 at Lincoln Park Zoo
Thursday, October 15th – 10:00 a.m.
Roughly 3 years ago, Lincoln Park Zoo created a new landscape master plan to help make a unified look across
the zoo. In this presentation, we will review the original plan as well as our current working documents used on a
daily basis. We will also have time to walk zoo grounds to look at the projects where we have successfully
implemented the plan as well as areas we could have done a bit differently. We will show how we converted a
plan on paper into a real, working project that is regularly updated and tweaked.
