Dietary Aide

The Pride Group-

JOB FUNCTION:

Under the general direction of the Food Supervisor, the dietary aide provides for the nutritional well being for all residents at The Pride Group facility. The dietary aide is responsible for the delivery of high quality services as determined by the residents and under the direction of the Dietician hired by The Pride Group and is consistent with the philosophy of The Pride Group and complying with applicable state laws and regulations. The dietary staff conducts all responsibilities within the Scope of Practice dictated by the

State of Iowa.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assure the provision of high quality dietary services for each resident.

2. Ensure ongoing compliance with appropriate local, state, and federal regulatory and /or accrediting body standards.

3. Assume accountability for the implementation of approved policies and procedures.

4. Utilize professional communication skills in dealing with staff, public, and residents.

5. Ensure a safe and sanitary environment is provided for staff and residents; makes efforts to reduce safety hazards, accidents, and injuries.

6. Follow the policies and procedures of the facility and communicate the program philosophy and goals.

7. Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and employer facility operations and ensure that resident’s rights are maintained.

8. Ensure that the OAP plans are followed according to policies and procedures.

9. Inform the Food Supervisor and document any problems or circumstances, which may compromise the integrity of the facility.

10. Able to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily.

11. Attend monthly in-services and any other scheduled meetings as scheduled.

12. Follow the menus and diets of the residents under the direct instruction of the Dietician and check food temperatures before serving.

13. Help with the unloading of products delivered, also checking for damaged product and correct dates.

PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:

1. Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Supervisor.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position functions under the direct supervision of the Food Supervisor.

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification/License

Current CPR- within 60 days of hire

Valid Iowa Chauffer Driver’s License

Must be at least 18 years old

High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred

Current Physical and TB test

Current Mandatory Adult Abuse Reporter Certificate- within 60 days of hire

Sanitation and Food Prep Course

Knowledge

Demonstrated understanding of how The Pride Group operates.

Must have a desire to work with the Mentally Ill or Handicapped

Experience

Demonstrated effective communication, and interpersonal skills

Skills/Abilities

High level of literacy in written and spoken English

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Excellent interpersonal relationships and communication skills with all levels of employees, residents, the public, and Pride Group management

Conceptualize, organize, and implement a plan for the Pride Group programs, predict outcomes, and plan for the future

Good initiative, judgment, leadership and problem solving skills

Ability to follow written and oral instructions

Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately

Exercise discretion and solid judgment while ensuring safety

Detail- oriented and able to plan and carryout projects independently

Must be able to demonstrate exemplary professional behavior in all aspects of the position

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

Typical Work Hours are (10 hr shifts). The Pride Group reserves the right to change shifts for any time or reason. Employees need to arrive on time and may not leave until their replacement has arrived. Morning and Afternoon breaks are 15 minutes. Noon meal is ½ hour. Break times are included in work time.
