This is a pre-requisite to one of the HM junior year courses. Approved businesses and industries that will meet this requirement are hotels, motels, catering companies, restaurants, food services for college dining halls, resorts, travel companies, airlines, cruise ship lines, and event management companies. Students can provide copies of pay stubs or a memo from their supervisor documenting the number of hours worked. 1 Choose from HIS 101, 102, 111, 112, 121 and 122. ITE 115 is required for graduation from NOVA, however ITE 100 is the equivalent of COB 204 which is required for all JMU Hospitality Management majors. 3 ACTG 244, Accounting for Non-Business majors, is required. There is no equivalent at NOVA, however if students complete both ACC 211 and ACC 212, that will satisfy the ACTG 244 requirement. 4 Students may take a sequence of two science courses (e.g. BIO 101, 102) or two difference sciences. 5 May select only from the following combinations of MTH courses to fulfill the NOVA degree: MTH 163 + 271 (6 cr.); MTH 241 + 271 (6 cr.); MTH 166 + 271 (8 cr.); MTH 271 + 272 (6 cr.); or MTH 173 + 174 (10 cr.) 2 6 To be chosen from NOVA’s approved electives to complete the degree. Please keep in mind that, while the A.S. degree will fulfill all General Education requirements at JMU, some courses may not transfer, resulting in the loss of credit. For more information, consult the VCCS – JMU Course Equivalents, http://www.jmu.edu/registrar/transfer/vccs_index.shtml. Differential tuition for College of Business majors/minors will take effect Fall 2014. Students will be charged an additional $50 per credit for all College of Business courses (with the exception of GECON 200).
