One by Delta Chi Fraternity and JRP and the other in front of Triangle Fraternity » Block and Line Item was passed. Four engineering organizations received funding for their projects and numerous others received general funding » Elections for this year are on April 13 and 14. Please vote online during that time 3/15/2016 4 FRESHMEN ENGINEERING STUDENT COUNCIL Mulinazzi Cup • Annual 3v3 Basketball Tournament • Named in honor of former Associate Dean, Dr. Mulinazzi • April 10 at 1:00 in Robinson • Registration Deadline due April 1st at 5:00pm • Minimum of 3 • Max of 5 • $10 entry fee for team 3/15/2016 6 Bylaws Change • Eliminate NAESC Liaison » Section 7 of Article III is repealed from the Bylaws of the KU Engineering Student Council, effectively eliminating the officer position of NAESC Liaison. » The duties of the NAESC officer position will be transferred to a member of KU ESC who holds a NAESC regional or national board position. • The ESC Officer held accountable as NAESC Liaison will be responsible for the following: » » » » » » • • Act as the liaison between the University of Kansas ESC and the Regional and National Chapters of NAESC Act as a school representative in weekly meetings of the Regional NAESC Present NAESC updates at KU ESC general meetings Organize and run a post-national and post-regional conference debriefing meeting Responsible for representing KU ESC at the Voting Delegates Meeting at the Regional and National NAESC conferences Work with the ESC President and other officers to arrange ESC’s attendance at NAESC regional and national conferences In the event that no KU ESC member holds a NAESC regional or national board position, then the President shall appoint a member who will be attending the next NAESC conference to act as the KU ESC liaison to NAESC. In the event that KU ESC has multiple members who hold a NAESC regional or national board position, then the President may delegate one member to assume the responsibilities of NAESC liaison, if he/she so choses to have only one member in this capacity. » The NAESC Liaison Chair shall be removed as a Voting Member in the Definition of Voting Members in Section 3 of Article VI. » PASSED UNANIMOUSLY ON 3/31/11 3/15/2016 7 Bylaws Change Eliminate Corporate Relations Chair •Section 8 of Article III is repealed from the bylaws of the KU Engineering Student Council, effectively eliminating the officer position of Corporate Relations Chair. •The duties of the Corporate Relations Chair shall be reallocated as follows: » When an ESC event requires corporate sponsorship, the ESC officer in charge of the event is responsible for seeking and obtaining corporate support. • All requests for corporate funding must first pass through KU Endowment. ESC Officers may not begin soliciting industry for support before working with KU Endowment. » The ESC Treasurer shall be in charge of keeping track of corporate funding requests and contacts to ensure that a company is not being approached multiple times for ESC events. » Alumni relations, for the purpose of, but not limited to, bringing in speakers and presenters for ESC meetings, shall be the responsibility of the ESC Publicity Chair. •The Corporate Relations Chair shall be removed as a Voting Member in the Definition of Voting Members in Section 3 of Article VI. •The Corporate Relations Chair shall be removed from the Order of Election as outlined in Section 5 of Article V. •PASSED UNANIMOUSLY ON 3/31/11 3/15/2016 8 Bylaws Change • Eliminate the Freshmen Development Chair » Section 5 of Article III is repealed from the bylaws of the KU Engineering Student Council, effectively eliminating the officer position of Freshmen Development Chair. » The duties of the Freshmen Development Chair shall be reallocated to the Outreach Chair, as outlined in Amendment VI. » The Freshmen Development Chair shall be removed as a Voting Member in the Definition of Voting Members in Section 3 of Article VI. • PASSED UNANIMOUSLY ON 3/31/11 3/15/2016 9 Bylaws Change Creation of Outreach Chair •The Outreach Chair(s) shall have the following responsibilities: » To plan and coordinate the Frosh Frenzy event held within the first two weeks of the School of Engineering, under the guidance of previous coordinators and the material left behind from previous events » Plan and execute Rockin;’ on Learned Lawn as a school year kickoff event • Work with the School of Engineering Events Coordinator to plan the faculty involvement with the event » Represent ESC in the School of Engineering Mentoring Program » Lead the School of Engineering’s involvement in KU Homecoming » Work with the Freshmen Council E-Week committee to plan and execute E-Week events » Assist the ESC Vice President with overseeing the Freshmen Engineering Student Council, including, but not limited to, attending Freshmen Council Meetings •The Outreach Chair(s) shall be included as a Voting Member in the Definition of Voting Members in Section 3 of Article VI. •The Outreach Chair(s) shall take the place of the Freshmen Development Chair in the Order of Election as outlined in Section 5 of Article V. » 3/15/2016 PASSED UNANIMOUSLY ON 3/31/11 10 Bylaws Change Creation of the Community Service Chair •The Community Service Chair shall have the following responsibilities: » Work with the Freshmen Council Community Service Committee to seek, plan, and execute ESC community service events. » Seek involvement from other School of Engineering Student Organizations in ESC community service events. » Work with the Freshmen Council E-Club Committee to hold E-Club events at Lawrence schools throughout the academic year » Work with any requests by community members for ESC to provide volunteers for events. » Coordinate any ESC involvement in KU campus service events including, but not limited to, fundraisers for causes and volunteering time and labor. •The Community Service Chair shall be included as a Voting Member in the Definition of Voting Members in Section 3 of Article VI. •The Community Service Chair shall replace the NAESC Liaison in the Order of Election as outlined in Section 5 of Article V. • PASSED UNANIMOUSLY ON 3/31/11 3/15/2016 11 Bylaws Change Positions Eligible to Study Abroad and Co-Op Students •In order to maintain the involvement of engineering students who aspire to study abroad or participate in a co-op, the following ESC positions shall be made available for a term of one (1) semester: » Activities Chair » Publicity Chair » Community Service Chair •If the officer will be studying abroad or participating in a co-op in the Spring Semester, then he/she hold his/her officer position for the Fall Semester.
