HIV/AIDS Vocabulary
HIV – Human Immunodeficiency Virus, an incurable virus that can lead to AIDS
AIDS – Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, a disease that destroys the immune system
Abstinence – not having sex
Immune System– system in the body that fights infections and diseases
Incubation Period – from the time one is infected with HIV until the time that person shows
symptoms – this time period can be from 6 months to an unknown period
Antibodies – a chemical in our body that fights infections
Transmit – to send or spread
