I will consult with my department chairperson and principal to request funding for some items.

Students are required to provide pencils, pens, a notebook of their preference and looseleaf paper. Sticky notes are recommended.

Quizzes will be given throughout each chapter with a major test given at the end of each chapter. The grading policy is as follows:

 Classwork and quizzes count 1 time.

 Tests count 2 times

 Class Participation counts 1 time. o Participation includes:

-Homework

-Having textbook, workbook, notebook, pencil/pen

-Listening attentively

-Taking notes

-Being involved in class discussions and team activities

Students begin with 100 points each nine weeks. Points are deducted for lack of participation.

 Special projects may be assigned.

 Extra Credit-

 Students may present short reports on current events in Spanishspeaking countries. One report per week is allowed for 5 points each.

 One point is added to each nine weeks average for perfect attendance.

All grades will be recorded in my grade book as well as Inter-grade Pro on my computer. Inter-grade Pro maintains an up-to-date average for each student. To obtain the final grade for a course, each nine weeks counts twice and the final exam counts once. For example:

First nine weeks =84 84x2=168

Second nine weeks=96 96x2=192

Final exam =80 80x1=80

5/440=88

The grading scale is adopted by the District:

A= 93-100

B= 85-92

C= 77-84

D= 70-76

F= 69 and below

Classroom rules and the school disciplinary system are discussed the first week of class. Students sign a sheet verifying their understanding of the rules. In addition to these specific rules for the classroom, all NSHS students are subject to the disciplinary code in the NSHS Student

Handbook.

In the first few weeks of classes, I try to contact all parents of my students. I believe parents should be aware of their children’s accomplishments and good behavior as well as their failures and misconduct. A positive, encouraging communication early in the class creates a supportive relationship between the student, the parents and myself.

Parents will be informed of their children’s progress by:

1.

Phone calls

2.

Notes sent home

3.

Sending work home to be reviewed and signed by parent

4.

Parent/Teacher conferences

5.

Progress reports

6.

Report cards

7.

Conference days

I monitor and adjust my LRP throughout the semester. If major adjustments are necessary, I will make changes on my Long-Range

Plans submitted to my principal and adopt these changes in the future.
