For more information regarding IPDA, please go to www.ipdadebate.info. In the spirit of the standards adopted at the CCCFA and Phi Rho Pi national tournament, we will modify IPDA standards to the following: One-on-one IPDA will be offered only. Team IPDA will not be available. No Professional Division will be offered. We will use three topics as opposed to five topics. Teams will go to their posted room for topic strikes. The negative team strikes first and the affirmative strikes last. The remaining topic will be debated. Preparation time will be limited to 20 minutes. Preparation is closed; however, debaters are allowed to use prepared materials and other electronic devices. Time format for IPDA 1st Affirmative Negative Cross Exam 1st Negative Affirmative Cross Exam 2nd Affirmative 2nd Negative Final Affirmative 5 minutes 2 minutes 6 minutes 2 minutes 3 minutes 5 minutes 3 minutes DIVISIONS: We will offer both Novice and Open divisions for each event. A novice is defined as someone who is in their first two semesters of competition and has not debated in elimination rounds at three or more debate tournaments or won an elimination round at any state or national tournament. NO FEES: In the spirit of being free, there are zero entry fees for this tournament. We will not charge a school or team fee. We also will not charge any judging fees. However, for each two debate entries (or fraction thereof), you must provide one judge to be available for all four rounds. You must cover your debate entries. Due to an anticipated lack of judges you cannot buy out of judging. We encourage and accept lay judges.
