Grimsby Institute of Further & Higher
Education (GIFHE)
• Founded in 1944 as the Grimsby Technical College,
becoming The Grimsby Institute of Further & Higher
Education in 2004.
• Runs more than 100 degrees, ranging from foundation
degrees to masters courses. These are validated by the
Universities of Hull, Leeds Metropolitan, York St John and
Huddersfield.
• Recognized as a centre of vocational excellence in food
manufacturing and is a part of The National Skills Academy
for Food and Drink.

A training programme on “Cold Chain Opportunities in India” was
organized by the DMA with two experts from the Grimsby Institute of
Further & Higher Education, UK and two experts from the Delhi
Management Association on 26th March 2013 in the DMA
Conference Room which was attended by top industry professionals.
About 100 organizations belonging to above mentioned institutions/
organizations approached for nominating participants for the Train The
Trainer programme.

The 100 Master Trainers trained under the project will deliver
training to various stakeholders within their organizations.
Courses developed through the project to be offered as part of
educational/ training programmes being conducted by various
training institutions like NIFTEM, National Horticulture Board, etc .
DMA would set up a portal where the courses developed will be
uploaded so that experts of this field can access freely whenever
required.
In future, DMA proposes to conduct public seminars and training
programmes based on the courses developed.

It is proposed to continue the project in phase II to benchmark the
courses developed to national occupational standards for the entire
range of jobs/ roles in cold chain industry in collaboration with the
concerned sector skills councils/ stakeholders.
Courses linked to specific roles/ jobs and occupational standards in
various components of cold chain, i.e., cold storage, transportation,
manufacturing, packaging, retail etc. would be developed.
UKIERI funding for the same would be requested.
