For your analysis of the transpiration lab…..put the following in your lab notebook. Don’t forget to update your table of contents! AP Investigation #11: Transpiration The following needs to be specific to your experimental condition you tested…( temp, windy, dark, light, humidity) Question: Hypothesis: (if, then format) Dependent Variable: Independent Variable: Control Variables: Results include the following data tables/graph in this section Data Table: Leaf Surface Area Data Table 1: Water Loss through Transpiration of Alstroemeria Plant Data Table 2: Class Data: Water Loss through Transpiration of Alstroemeria Plant in Different Environmental Conditions Graph: Class Data: Water Loss through Transpiration of Alstroemeria Plant in Different Environmental Conditions (graph the average rate of transpiration of each group, as well as their control plant rate. Make a bar graph) Discussion/Conclusion (rewrite the question before your answer) Answer question #2 and #4, plus the two extra ones on the little slip of paper I gave you in class….. if you lost it, here they are: 5. Discuss how the process of transpiration occurs in a plant. Use biology terms in your answer. 6. We didn’t count the number of stomata on the leaves of our plants, but what predictions can you make about the number of stomata and the rate of transpiration? Explain why. I would like you to have this done by Monday because Monday night you will be working on your Photosynthesis lab, which will go after this lab in the lab notebook. Although, if you have MAJOR questions about the transpiration lab, feel free to ask me Monday, but keep in mind, you will have more homework/reading/lab work Monday night. I will check my email periodically this weekend if you have a quick question about the lab. Be sure to read/study the procedure for Monday’s lab (we have homeroom Monday, which will shorten class by a few minutes). Watch the video of the procedure that is linked to my website under the Energy/Photosynthesis/Cellular Respiration box. I am going to move your vocab quiz to Friday, Feb. 15th. Be ready for a quiz over photosynthesis either Wed or Thursday.
