Carey Ridge Elementary School PTO Meeting Minutes September 10, 2013 I. Called to order by Janet at 3:36pm. President Report A. Everyone should have received a PTO parent folder B. Membership/Sponsorship update - resend membership forms home with a new deadline of Friday, September 13th 1. PTO funding Ideas from staff members – first thing we’re focusing on is picnic tables (for by the cabin?); 4-5 possibly composite so they’re lighter weight for moving to mow underneath. We’re working through the list and deciding what is best to spend the money on. Some money left from last year to use now, and money raised from walkathon and other fundraisers for the rest of the year. D. Treasurer position open E. PTO Newsletter sent out next week II. Budget Update- Available to all who attended. Kim & Amy working on the budget together. Updated as of August 31. III. Room Parent update – folders went out to all the room parents. Domino’s proceeds - $227.72 b. Yogurtz proceeds - $87.59 D. Upcoming Events a. Movie Night this Friday 9/13 – “Epic” Drop off NOT BEFORE 5:45. Doors open only for volunteers before then. How can we monitor allergies for movie night snacks? Line on form for future for any allergies we need to be aware of. Talking with Mrs Hobson for this week’s movie night. Put a sign up at check in for parents to look at. b. Market Day Orders due by next Thurs. 9/19 (pick up date 9/24) A reminder call will be made for the evening before. c. Walk-A-Thon 9/27 i. T-shirt design contest- approximately 1200 submissions ii. T-shirt sizing this week- orders going out Thursday iii. Incentives- When the overall goal is met $10,000, minute to win it with staff members, bracket style format, compete against each other. One game idea is having whipped cream with a cherry in it and whoever can find the cherry first wins. iv. Schedule d. Chik-fil-A Fundraiser - 10/9 (staff schedule) e. Everybody counts 10/14-18 Great response with sign ups. Totally full with volunteers for 4th grade. Mostly full with 3rd. i. Sign-up sheets almost full ii. Working on Friday speaker iii. Possible seeing-eye dog? f. Coke Rewards deadline 10/31 for the ‘special’ item, off-catalog requests g. Bedtime Books - volunteer process/suggestions from staff- Tuesday March 18, 5:30-7:30. Will be discussed more as the event gets closer. V. VI. All Pro Dads Presentation $210 for General liability insurance. Which is possibly covered through PTO insurance. Janet will check our policy.
