How can seeds absorb water?
Flowers absorb water through the xylem, a
tissue of thin tubes on the outside stem of
plants. Its job is to take water and nutrients
from the roots. The water molecules are
attracted to the molecules in the xylem, helping
to pull the water up. Solar energy also pulls the
water up through the plant. The sun evaporates
the water from the surface.

Where do plants come from?
 Plants
come from seeds. Each seed
contains a tiny plant waiting for the
right weather to germinate, or start
to grow.

Could we live without plants?
We
cannot live without plants .
Plants give us food, oxygen,
shade, shelter, water and
medicine. We need all these
things to keep us alive

ants/adapt.html
What are plant adaptions?
 Plants
have adaptations to help them
survive in different areas. These
adaptations might make it very difficult for
the plant to survive in a different place.
This explains why certain plants are found
in one area, but not in another. For
example, you wouldn't see a cactus living
in the Arctic.

What does the word
Pollination mean?
 Pollination
is the transfer of pollen from a
stamen to a pistil. Pollination starts the
production of seeds.

What’s the difference
between a fruit and a
vegetable?
A
fruit is a sweet and fleshy product.
The fruit holds seeds inside them,
and those seeds then develop into
new plants.
 A vegetable is edible anywhere on
the plant and does not have any
seeds.

Photosynthesis
 Photosynthesis
is a process in plants
to make their food.
 In this process six water molecules
mix with six carbon molecules to
form, oxygen and glucose (food for
plants)
