Bob Marley
 Nesta Robert "Bob" Marley, (6 February 1945 – 11 May




1981) was a Jamaican singer-songwriter and musician best
known for his Reggae records.
He was the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for the ska,
rocksteady and reggae bands
Marley remains the most widely known and the best-selling
performer of reggae music, having sold more than 75
million albums worldwide.[1]
He is also credited with helping spread both Jamaican
music and the Rastafari movement to a worldwide
audience.[2]
Marley's music was heavily influenced by the social issues
of his homeland, and he gave voice to the specific political
and cultural situations of Jamaica

What is a hook in writing?
Activity
 Directions: With your partner, try identifying the
type of hook that your partner reads to you as an
example. You should also read your hooks to your
partner so that he / she can try to identify them from
the list. You have 4 or 5 hooks and your partner has
4 or 5 different hooks. Student A, read your
example hooks only first (don’t tell your partner
type of hook. Student B, try to identify the type of
hook Student A tells you from the list below. Then,
Student B should read his / her examples to Student
A and student A should try to identify the type of
hook from the list below.
The possible types of hook are:
 Begin with a quote.
 Begin with a description of the setting using two or more







adjectives or two or more of your five senses.
Begin with a question (be careful with yes or no questions!)
Begin with an interesting statistic to prove a point or shock.
Begin with a metaphor or a simile.
Begin with a dialogue.
Begin with a description of a character.
Begin with a single word.
Begin with a string of words.
