‫מטרת הקורס להציג בפני הסטודנטים את הספרות המחקרית המרכזית והמעודכנת ביותר בשאלות העומדות‬
‫בלב הדיון בפוליטיקה השוואתית בנוגע למוסדות‪ ,‬חוקות ותרבות דמוקרטית‪ .‬בין היתר הקורס יעסוק‬
‫בהבטים השוואתיים של כתיבת חוקות‪ ,‬סוגי משטר‪ ,‬שיטות בחירה‪ ,‬מפלגות‪ ,‬משפט ציבורי השוואתי‪ ,‬תרבות‬
‫פוליטית ואמון פוליטי‪ ,‬התנהגות פוליטית‪ ,‬דת ומדינה ומוסדות דמוקרטים במדינות שסועות‪ .‬בין השאלות‬
‫המרכזיות שיעלו לדיון במהלך הקורס‪ :‬כיצד פועלות מערכות של דמוקרטיה ייצוגית? מה תפקידן של מפלגות‬
‫והאם צריך אותן בכלל? מה המשמעות של ייצוג פוליטי ושל "רצון העם"? כיצד מערכות דמוקרטיות ברחבי‬
‫העולם מאפשרות ביטוי והשפעה לקבוצות מיעוט בחברה? מה תפקידו של בית המשפט במדינה דמוקרטית?‬
