Assistant Housekeeper (Fixed Term Contract) £8.50 per hour plus generous benefits Job title: Assistant Housekeeper Reporting to: Housekeeping Manager Hours: 35 hours per week (6.00am to 13:00pm - 5 days a week) Start date: As soon as possible Job description We are looking for a reliable person with a positive and cheerful approach to work. You will preferably have extensive housekeeping experience in a similar role, good organisational and communication skills, the ability to supervise a large team of scouts (cleaners), the drive to ensure the high standards of cleaning in the College buildings, knowledge of Health and Safety regulations (COSHH) and Manual Handling Regulations and a good ability to use IT (Word documents and Excel spreadsheets). Duties: Help to maintain areas throughout the College in a clean, hygienic and safe way. These areas may include student and guest accommodation - bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, toilets, shower areas, corridors.; offices, workrooms, libraries and other educational centres; Ensure safe use of cleaning equipment and materials, in accordance with COSHH regulations for which training will be provided; Use equipment and cleaning materials in a safe manner and in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions. Report to the Housekeeping Manager or Maintenance Manager any defects, damage or health and safety issues in the areas where you work; Undertake the responsibility for the sending out and receiving in of all College Laundry. Assist with the management of staff as required including rotas and monitoring. Help to manage the Housekeeping section within College policies and procedures. Assist in ensuring that adequate staff are on duty to provide the services required to an agreed standard and cover areas if needed. Assist in liaising with the Conference and Accommodation Co-ordinators when required to ensure that conference/meeting rooms, guest rooms and new arrival rooms are cleaned appropriately and on time. Assist with the control of Cleaning Chemicals and stock in order to ensure adequate supplies for normal operations and for extraordinary events as notified from time to time. Carry out other duties within the general scope of this role as directed by the Housekeeping Manager or Domestic Bursar. Pay and conditions The rate of pay is £8.50 per hour.
