Aim of The Course
The primary purpose of this course is to provide the students with essential theoretical framework on
the role of finance function in enterprises and key financial decisions affecting corporate
performance, thereby enabling them to apply substantial finance theories to real cases. In this
manner, the students will go through a teaching process that covers such basic concepts and
phenomena as financial analysis and controlling, planning in finance, the ways of raising fund and its
use in asset investments. Furthermore, the intermediary position of financial managers between
enterprises and financial markets is to be discussed by supplying some knowledge about market
dynamics and the foremost financial instruments.
Course Outcomes
Upon the completion of the course, the students are expected to:
- Describe the role of finance function in corporate performance
- Be knowledgeable about the key decisions that should be made by a financial manager
- Apply the principal financial analysis methods on financial statement data
- Derive proforma financial statements using appropriate techniques commonly employed
by practitioners
- Distinguish between future value and present value and successfully calculate present and/or future
value of cash flows.
Style of Teaching
Lecturing, class discussions, and short cases
Attendance Procedure
Attendance to the class sessions is not mandatory, but will be strictly required and regularly
monitored. No lower limit of attendance required for a student to be accepted to the exams.
However, regular attendance will be awarded with bonus points in grading up to 10 %.
Grading and Evaluation
Midterm Exam: 50 %
Final Exam: 50 %
Attendance and Participation: 10 % (bonus)
