Long-Range Planning: Next Steps Southern Pines Rotary Club 1 “We do make a difference -- one way or the other. We are responsible for the impact of our lives. Happy Dollars can sometimes run too long Speakers should have their 20 minutes The Club should spend more time setting priorities, guidelines for service projects. We need better communication “What will RI’s mission be after polio is defeated?” Fundraising is “not effective” “We need more hands-on activities” Advertise Club through Facebook, banners, ads at sports and social events More articles in The Pilot; maybe an weekly ad describing the meetings? 9 Our Outcome Today Long Term Vision A Multi-year Plan VISION 2015 2014 2013 2012 2011 Annual plans, projects, programs 10 “Rotary is not an organization for retrospection. It is rather one whose worth and purpose lie in future activity rather than past performance.” - Paul Harris, Founder of Rotary International 11 Southern Pines Rotary Club Long-Range Planning Goals Continue to offer the fun and fellowship which are the glue that holds together our Rotary Club and the diverse group of volunteers. This should naturally encourage recruitment and the desire to share this fellowship with others. Members are challenged to continue recruitment efforts to keep our Club at an average size of 100. 12 Southern Pines Rotary Club Long-Range Planning Goals Proactively enable member engagement with goals and activities. The goal is to give our members information and opportunity to join the varied Club activities that resonate with their personal interests. Encourage more involvement by calling on those who have not yet participated to see if they are interested in serving. 13 Southern Pines Rotary Club Long-Range Planning Goals Define sustainable, effective management and leadership policies that will translate into successful policies for continuity of our organizational structure. There are challenges to overcome – succession plans for Board positions; the need for role clarity; clearly defining volunteer responsibilities. All these areas and more need to be tackled and communicated in a timely and effective way. 14 Southern Pines Rotary Club Long-Range Planning Goals Foster strong, sustainable communications with our members and the community. Our members need to know what the Club is doing on a regular basis. Our community needs to know the good work our Club is doing. Goals should include more public signage, weekly advertisements in the newspaper and the use of social media. 15 Southern Pines Rotary Club Long-Range Planning Goals Plan and execute visible, collaborative projects supported by sound funding and sustainable member involvement. We are in the process of applying for a Global Grant through the Future Vision Program for the “Together We Can Do Moore initiative”. This will be a three-year project that will carry us through 2014. New funding projects will be needed for 2014 forward. At the same time a long term funding strategy will be established to ensure achievement of the long term project commitments. 16 Implementing The Plan: Next Steps to Action 1. Club Vision 2.
