Academic Life in the Sixth Form
Academic Rigour, Extension and Achievement
Academically, the Sixth Form at St Augustine's Priory is
transformative;
thinking independently and critically is a requisite of all
subjects, and extra reading and research adds a new
dimension to the curriculum. Studying subjects you
genuinely love, in great depth, with teachers who are
specialists in their field, is truly intellectually
stimulating.‘

A Level Options – support
Upper V students are supported throughout this process. This
includes:
 A comprehensive ISCO service comprising personal profiles, a
dedicated website for research and an individual interview
with a careers specialist
 A PSHEE programme focusing on reflection (particularly from
today’s sessions), developing ideas for research and specific
careers-related information.
 A dedicated mentor from the staff to discuss both academic
progress and A Level options
 Guidance and tailored support from subject specialists and
subject examiners and moderators
 A Stretch and Challenge scheme for girls thinking about top
tier Universities, eg. Oxbridge
A Level Options – an overview
 Lower VI option blocks are constructed around the Upper V
students’ preferences – they are NOT pre-set blocks
 Girls use the advice and support given to them to
thoroughly investigate the subject requirements of future
career paths and courses available at University

“Although we are all strong minded individuals
we are also a collective and a team. We have
learnt to work together effectively, where a

together we are able to deliver.”
