Love Your Tree 2013
The Love Your Tree 2013 art exhibition, held at the Blend(er) Gallery in
Joondalup, was a huge success, topping the efforts of the 2012 campaign.
Women’s Healthworks received over 90 submissions of which
approximately 50 were displayed.
The Love Your Tree project promotes ways of developing positive body
image messages through art. People were encouraged to submit a piece of
art responding to the statement “Like a tree, my body is...” The aim of the
program is to challenge the narrow definitions of beauty within our society
and to encourage the exploration of body diversity and positive body
image through the creation of art using the powerful symbol of a tree.

The Body Esteem Program
Eating Disorder Self Help
Groups 2013 – 2014
The Body Esteem Program (BEP) offers women with
eating disorders a safe haven to share their
experiences with other women who understand and
empathise with the difficulties of living with and
recovering from an eating disorder. The groups are
self-help which means that you set your own goals,
take responsibility for learning, and make changes at
your own pace. Women who participate in the
program have reported they feel less ashamed, less
isolated and more hopeful for the future.
PARENT EDUCATION & SUPPORT PROGRAM (PESP)
Supporting Parents, Carers and Partners
Are you at a loss to understand how your family member, partner or friend came
to suffer from an eating disorder? Do you suffer from guilt? Are you feeling
confused, scared, worried or angry? Is it difficult to know where to look for help?
If you said YES to any of the above, then this program could be helpful for you…
PESP can provide you with insight into:
• Why sufferers behave the way they do and what it’s like to experience an eating
disorder.
• How you can support your loved one or friend to move towards recovery.
• The importance of caring for yourself and how to minimise stress and help to restore
harmony in your family or relationship.
The next workshop will be on a Saturday 22nd February 2014 from 9.30am to 3.30pm with
lunch provided. Cost $75 each or $100 per couple. Places are available Free of Charge to

Stepping It Out Spring Walk to the Botanic
Golf on 24 September – Oh what a lovely day
On a fine sunny morning there was a good number of keen walkers for this
event. Lots of familiar faces from the regular Tuesday Joondalup walking
group as well as some new faces, which was particularly pleasing.
A good pace was set and everyone arrived in good spirits at Botanic Golf for a
welcome morning tea.
This was served very efficiently by the staff at Botanic Golf and the group
mixed well for a chat and lots of laughter.
The return walk was equally pleasant and, despite looming dark clouds luckily
the rain held off.
The total length of the walk was 7.65 Km and hopefully a pleasant morning
was had by all. Well done all !
WHITFORD CITY WALKERS

We would also like to thank the choir members from Merriwa and
Joondalup who provided wonderful entertainment! Thank you Margaret!
WHW Choirs are in demand and are doing a number of performances,
