His area of specialization is Industrial Relations, Labor Law, and Strategic Human Resource Management. He operates his own consultancy business trading as Sagoa & Associates. In the industry front, Mr. Sagoa was former GM Human Resources, TFL Group of Companies, Manager HR, Foster’s Group International, Legal Officer, Carpenters Finance, and Store Manager, Morris Hedstron Limited. At Executive Board Level, Mr. Sagoa was former Board of Directors of AFL (6 years) and Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (6years). He was one of pioneers (EXCOM) in the formation FHRI in 2005. & an Accredited Mediator (Aust) Arieta Cama Arieta looks after the Human Resources team in Air Terminal Services (Fiji) Limited at the Nadi International Airport. Prior to her current role, Arieta has been part of the Human Resources teams at ANZ Fiji Limited, ANZ Pacific Operations, Fiji Electricity Authority and Air Pacific Limited then, now Fiji Airways. At the start of her HR career Arieta’s area of interest was in Industrial relations. She has since then had stints in other aspects of human resources management including talent management, health & safety & leadership development. Arieta’s focus includes the development of her team members for their next HR roles. Arieta’s foray into HR commenced when she was offered a New Zealand government Aotearoa Scholarship to study a first degree in HRM and IR at Victoria University in Wellington Then, in 2012 Arieta returned to full time studies at the University of Sydney on an AUSAID scholarship; and as an Australian Leadership Awardee graduated with a masters in HRM/IR in October 2013. Arieta says her best roles are those she has for life – as a daughter, wife, mum, sister, auntie and friend. These roles compliment her professional responsibilities and keep her grounded. Karen Sorby Karen has worked in HR and Administration for various organisations including the Fiji Ministry of Foreign Affairs after which she joined the Pacific Forum Secretariat where she held the position of Director of the then Administration Division. She spent a brief time with the HR and Administration Division at the United Nations in New York as part of a team of international associates looking at efficiency improvements and on her return to Fiji she took up the position of HR Manager with the National Bank of Fiji before moving on to Shangri-La's Fijian Resort & Spa as Director of Human Resources, a position she has held there for the last 15 years. She completed a BA degree from Auckland University, then, after leaving the Forum Secretariat she was awarded a Hubert Humphrey Fellowship by the US Government, where she spent a year in the US pursuing graduate studies in HR Management at the University of Texas. Karen's professional qualifications have included a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) qualification from the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), USA and a Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) qualification from American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), USA. She has been an active member of the FHTA HR/IR Committee and has represented FHTA on the Board of TPAF as well as on the Hotel & Catering Trades Wages Council. Balbeer Singh Balbeer has extensive experience as Training Manager, General Manager, ISO9000/2000, QCC, OHS Consultant and Education and Human Resources Management. A graduate in Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Central Queensland University of Rockhampton in Brisbane, he is also a registered training officer of FNU, completed Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (a requirement of ANTA), Certified OHS Auditor from Minerva in Australia and HACCP Auditor. He has done many other courses in Fiji, Singapore and Japan. He is the founder of the Fiji Human Resources Institute and current President and also a vice president of Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management.
