About FHRI
Developing the Nation
The Fiji Human Resources Institute (FHRI) is an initiative of a group of dedicated and committed Human
Resources professionals with a common vision to develop our nation’s most valuable assets, our people. FHRI
was officially launched in August 2005 by the Vice President of Fiji, Ratu Jone Madraiwiwi at the Raffles
Tradewinds, in Lami.
The FHRI official launch marked an important chapter for Human Resources professionals in Fiji and the dawn
of a journey towards nurturing and developing our people to achieve their full potential. It is often said that a
nation is reflected by its people and leaders. FHRI recognizes the importance to develop our people and
leaders as we forge through this dynamic and ever changing global economy. Organizations today are
challenged in ensuring that they have the “right” people with strong leadership skills and vision to sustain our
integrity and competitiveness in the job market. FHRI provides an opportunity for HR practitioners and leaders
to work together as a team in the development of our nation’s most treasured asset and resources – our
people. Guest speaker presentations, Talanoa sessions, seminars and this National Convention are some of
the activities organized by FHRI for its members. FHRI membership is open to all individuals who possess a
keen interest in professional development in the field of human resources. We provide you with the
opportunity to interact with other HR practioners and share information on HR challenges, policy and
practices. FHRI membership is also extended to students with a keen interest in achieving their career in
human resources management.
Our vision at FHRI is to be a national leader in promoting Human Resources Development and increasing the
level of performance and productivity. Our Mission is to provide leadership to individuals, organizations,
government and the nation in promoting excellence in the field of human resources.
