23, 1564.
Once again no one knows his exact death date but it thought to be: April
23, 1616
• There is a period of his life that is not documented which is known as his “lost
YeArs”
• No one knows what he really looks like because there are no
portraits of him.
• He did not go to college or a university
• Built two different Global Theatres
• Never published any of his own plays
• There are 80 different spellings of his name
• Due to textual evidence, Shakespeare may have been bisexual
• He has said to have invented to word ‘AssAssinAtion’
• Married Anne Hathaway who was twice his own age

• Kingdom of the Scots was divided into three to

often inconsistent and not exact.

regions of Scotland were governed by Gaelics.
• Regions of the kingdom were governed by
other rulers, both royal and not royal.

churches, ministries, relics, and shrines.
• In 1054 the Christian Church divides into east
and west branches
• 1095 the first “Holy Wars” or Crusades begin.
• In about 800 c.e. the Sung Dynasty ruled over
China
• There wasn’t much trade going on between
countries unless they were bordering nations.
• Latin was the common language for this time
periods writings.
– Since the church was the main source of
education and the church spoke Latin, therefore
mostly everyone knew Latin.
The dominant forms of literature during this time
were religious works and writings
- It was not until the 11 century when the
subject of “courtly love” became important

supposedly the source for Shakespeare's title
character in “The Tragedy of Macbeth”
• Macbeth Was the King of Albana from 1040
to 1057 who seized the Scottish monarch after
killing his processor, Duncan I.
