One student will be given a big shirt to cover clothes. They will put a shower cap on their head and the teacher will put just a thin layer of shaving cream on the shower cap. Another student will be given some Cheetoh balls to try and toss and stick on the shaving cream. The first time they will not stick because there is not enough shaving cream. The second time the teacher will put the normal amount of shaving cream on the shower cap. When the other student throws the cheetah balls they will stick. ***This activity can be related to the uterine wall. The thicker the uterine wall the better the chances for the egg to implant in the uterus. This is why ovulation doesn’t happen until day 14. Activity 2: Introduce the menstrual cycle. Put the cycle up on the projector. Go through each of the four stages at a time. Use “The four phases of the menstrual cycle” and the “Fertilization” worksheets to discuss this section. http://www.uen.org/cte/family/child_development/prenatal.shtml#pregnancy Info is under male and female reproduction. I am meeting with all the girls for maturation this next Friday. In order to help them remember the information I tell them I was hoping you could make a brochure. I need a diagram of the menstrual cycle and information on complications they might encounter. So please include a diagram of the menstrual cycle and an explanation, and these vocabulary words with a short explanation… Estrogen, PMS, Uterine or cervical cancer, Vaginitis, Endometriosis, Hysterectomy, and Breast Cancer. Thanks so much for doing this for me. I am excited to see what you come up with!
