All About Coding, LLC “Bridging the Gap” Outpatient Training Class Syllabus – Ambulatory Surgery Prerequisites: Completion of an 80 hour CPC Preparation Course or Other 80 Hour Medical Coding Course and/or knowledge obtained from on the job work experience. Education and/or experience to have included medical terminology and anatomy Clock Hours: Course Length: 50 5 weeks Class Hours: Days/Times Per Week: Online course, independent self-study, no classroom meetings; students may log-in to the course at their own time schedule in order to complete assignments. Approximate Time for Completion of Weekly Assignments: 10 hours plus additional study time as needed. *4 hours of instructor time will be scheduled between the student and the instructor. The student will gain experience coding outpatient charts. Students will review outpatient coding guidelines and convention for use in coding outpatient charts. Students will code emergency department visits and ambulatory surgery visits using their knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, coding conventions and guidelines to arrive at the correct diagnosis and procedures. Course Description: The Online Outpatient Training objectives are to apply outpatient guidelines and conventions to code outpatient charts. Students will understand and apply outpatient guidelines and coding conventions when assigning diagnosis and procedure codes. Students will code Ambulatory Surgery Visits in all sections of CPT to develop outpatient facility coding skills. Course Objectives: To review Medical Terminology ICD-9-CM and CPT Guidelines CPT Assistant Modifiers Course Content: Power Point Presentations with assessments Ambulatory Surgery Training – Auditory Ambulatory Surgery Training – Cardiology Ambulatory Surgery Training – Digestive Ambulatory Surgery Training – Endocrine Ambulatory Surgery Training – Male and Female Genital Ambulatory Surgery Training – Nervous Ambulatory Surgery Training – Ocular Ambulatory Surgery Training – Respiratory Ambulatory Surgery Training – Urinary Ambulatory Surgery Training - Assessment Methods of Evaluation: The instructional methods used include power point presentations with assessments to test understanding, operative notes for practice with correct answers and rationale.
