Requirements for Employment
1.
Currently enrolled as a full-time student at UC San Diego, paying UC San Diego student services fees for
each quarter working.
2.
Work a minimum of 5 hours per week
3.
Attend a two-part New Hire Orientation:
 Part I- Jan 7 or 8 from 3 – 4pm AND
 Part II- Jan 9 from 9am-1pm (first day of work)
4.
Attend ALL mandatory bi-quarterly training meetings from 4– 6pm on:
January 15, February 26, April 6, May 6, June 3 (winter/spring 2016 dates)
5.
Participate in the events specified below:
 Triton Day (Saturday, April 9) – 8 hour work assignment required
 Transfer Triton Day (Saturday, May 7) – 8 hour work assignment required
 Quarterly Phone-a-thons during evening hours (4 – 8:30pm) and on Saturday mornings (9am –
12pm)
6.
Attend the Injury & Illness Prevention Class and provide certificate of completion within 30 days of hire.
7.
Provide required documentation as indicated on the List of Acceptable Documents at
http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-9.pdf at the time of Part I New Hire Orientation January 7 or 8
 1 document from LIST A, OR 1 document from LIST B AND 1 document from LIST C
Note: All documents must be ORIGINAL unless providing a certified copy of Birth Certificate
(from List C)
Note: If you are planning to use WORK STUDY, bring a copy of your financial aid award
Procedure
1.
Attend optional College Ambassador Information Session! Thursday October 15, 2015 5:30 – 6:30pm,
Student Services Center Multipurpose Room
2.
Submit APPLICATION and 1 LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION: Recommendation letter must be from a person
who has supervised you in a leadership role. Unacceptable letters include those from other College
Ambassadors, family members, Resident Advisors or Orientation Leaders. *Letter of Recommendation
MUST accompany Application.

3.
All applicants will be notified by email if they have been selected for a group interview. If asked to come in
for an interview, you will need to be available for a one-hour time slot on one of the following dates:
 Monday, November 16
 Tuesday, November 17
 Wednesday, November 18
 Thursday, November 19
 Friday, November 20
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
 Attend 10 weeks of training Winter Quarter (2 days/week, 1.5-2 hours each day)
 Conduct 60 and 90 minute walking tours of the UC San Diego campus to groups and individuals.
 Memorize facts & statistics about UC San Diego through information published in the 2015-16 Campus
Tour Guide Manual
 Work collaboratively and utilize excellent customer service skills
 Attend mandatory bi-quarterly College Ambassador training meetings
 Meet with Senior College Ambassador and/or Campus Tour Coordinator for training, as needed
 Participate in outreach and recruitment activities, Phone-A-Thons and Special Events hosted by the
Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools
 General Office Duties include: Greeting visitors in the Triton Center and directing them to various
campus departments, answering phones, returning messages, outbound calls to current and prospective
students, email and internet chat correspondence, working with the Campus Tours Reservation system,
assisting Admissions Officers with walk-ins and special projects as assigned
 Golf cart training for those licensed to drive
