Fortnightly QC/QA review report for the 1st fortnight of December - 2013 is narrated below
1. Package No DC14: Kothagudem Major & Pal air Channel.
M/s. Sri Lakshmi Engineering Company Constructions is the construction agency.
The SMEC team has inspected the package on 05, 09, & 11th of December 2013.
It is reported that the Earth work from borrow area for widening of banks of Kothegudem
major in km 18.800 to km 22.000 B/S and Earth work from borrow area for widening and
Resectioning of banks of Pal air channel in km 6.500 to km 8.000 and km 10.000 to km 12.000
on both sides are in progress.
The following tests are conducted during this Fortnight.
a. Soils
i.
16 No’s FDD & FMC tests are conducted and results are found to be 95.72to 97.36
which are more than 95% the results are passed.
ii.
Grain Size sieve analysis , Atterberg limit, Compaction proctor’s test, Specific gravity of
soils, Free swell index , Shrinkage limit tests are conducted and test results are passed.
b. Coarse Aggregate:
Three samples are tested for sieve analysis and two samples are tested for specific gravity,
Bulk density, Water absorption, Impact & Crushing values, Flakiness & Elongation Index and
abrasion test central laboratory at NS Dam and the results are passed.
c. Fine Aggregate:
One sample is tested for sieve analysis, Silt & Clay, Specific Gravity & Moisture content and
results are passed.
d. Cement:
One cement sample is tested Fineness, Normal consistency, Setting times, Soundness on and
the results are passed.
e. Compressive Strength of CC:
One set of M15 CC cube is tested for 7 days compressive strength and the result is found to
be 13.03 N/mm2 which is more than the limit of 10 N/mm2.
Four sets of cc cubes are collected for testing at laboratory.
The test results are attached to the booklet containing test reports of 1st and 2nd weeks of
December 2013.
2. Package No DC18 : Kalakota Major
M/s. Sai Raghava Constructions is the construction agency.
The SMEC team has inspected the package on 04 & 12th of December 2013.
It is reported that the Earth work from borrow area for widening of banks of Kalakota major
from km 0.000 to km 2.000 on L/S is in progress.
The following tests are conducted during this Fortnight.
a. Soils
i.
11 No’s FDD & FMC tests are conducted and results are found to be 95.56to 96.72 which
are more than 95% the results are passed.
ii. Grain Size sieve analysis , Atterberg limit, Compaction proctor’s test, Specific gravity of

3. Package No DC 29 : Bapulapadu Major
M/s. Sai Lakshmi Constructions is the construction agency.
The SMEC team has inspected the package on 13th of December 2013.
It is reported that the Laying of CC M15 grade for bed R/S slope from km 5.339 to km 5.470 is
in progress.
The following tests are conducted during this Fortnight.
a. Cement concrete:
2 nos slump & 2 nos Temperature tests are conducted and the results of slump are found to
be ranging from 41 to 42 which are within the acceptable limits and passed.
The Temperature is ranging from 300C to 310C which is within acceptable limit.
b. Coarse Aggregate:
Three samples are tested for Sieve Analysis and results are passed.
c. Fine Aggregate:
One test for Sieve Analysis is conducted and result is found satisfactory.
Four sets of cc cubes are collected for testing at laboratory.
The test results are attached to the booklet containing test reports of 1st and 2nd weeks of
December 2013.
4. Package No DC-32 : Vempadu Major
M/s. BVSR Constructions is the construction agency.
The SMEC team has inspected the package on 02nd December 2013.
It is reported that the Laying bed concrete with M10 grade CC for Box tunnel from km 6.000
to km 6.010 is in progress.
The following tests are conducted during this Fortnight.
a. Cement concrete:
2 nos slump & 2 nos Temperature tests are conducted and the results of slump are found to
be ranging from 40 to 41 which are within the acceptable limits and passed.
The Temperature is ranging from 290C to 300C which is within acceptable limit.
b. Coarse Aggregate:
Three samples are tested for Sieve Analysis and results are passed.
c. Fine Aggregate:
One test for Sieve Analysis is conducted and result is found satisfactory.
d. Compressive Strength of CC:
Three sets of M10 CC cube is tested for 7 days compressive strength and the results are found
to be 11.92 to 13.03 N/mm2 which is more than the limit of 7 N/mm2.
Two sets of cc cubes are collected for testing at laboratory.
The test results are attached to the booklet containing test reports of 1st and 2nd weeks of
December 2013.

Fortnightly QC/QA review report for the 1st fortnight of December - 2013
is narrated below
(1). Package No: 61, Rehabilitation and modernization under distributory
Committee No: 29
M/s Raghava Constructions Hyd. is the construction agency for this package.
The Project site Manager and Project site Engineer has inspected the packages one time on
05-12-2013.
It is reported that Extraction of C.C. Cores has been done on drops @ km 12.07, 9.856 of
Tripurapuram Major and Drop @ km 1.856 of Nuzendla Major.
Tests:
Capping has been done for extracted C.C. Cores test will be conducted in next week.
(2). DC Package No: 71, (DC No: 39 of Paidi padu major)
M/s BNB Infracon India Pvt Ltd Hyderabad is the construction agency for this package.
The Project site Manager and Project site Engineer has inspected the package three times on
04-12-2013, 07-12-2013 & 13-12-2013.
It is reported that Jungle clearance is in progress at 77 km of Paidipadu Major, and also
It is reported that the sub grade preparation is under progress from km 72.700 to 72.760 of
Paidipadu Major.
It is reported that the vegetations are observed on left side slope sub grade from km 72.742
to km 72.755 of Paidipadu Major on over suggestion the vegetation have been removed in
the above same locations.
Tests:(a). Soils:One soil samples has been collected for testing grain size analysis for classification, atterberg
limits, specific gravity, swell index, M.D.D, O.M.C.
The grain size analysis conducted on soil samples reveals that the soils falls under
classification of GC with M.D.D of 1.893 % and O.M.C of 12.90 % and other limits have been
enclosed in the statement.
(b). Coarse Aggregate:Three Coarse Aggregate samples have been tested for Sieve Analysis and three coarse
aggregate samples have been tested for Elongation Index, flakiness index, abrasion, Impact
and Crushing values & for specific gravity, moisture content and absorption, bulk density and
voids.
The coarse aggregate consists of 40 mm, 20 mm & 10 mm.
The gradation analysis conducted on three samples of the Coarse Aggregate is found to be
within the allowable limits.
The Elongation Index of 40 mm, 20 mm & 10 mm are found to be 16.90%, 13.46 % &
17.75 % as against the allowable limit of 25%.
The flakiness index of 40 mm, 20 mm & 10 mm coarse aggregate are found to be 13.20%,
12.89 % & 18.43 % against the allowable limit of 25 %.
The Coarse Aggregate is also tested for crushing, impact value and abrasion value.
The crushing value of the coarse aggregate is found to be 18.65 % as against the maximum
limit of 45%
The abrasion value of the aggregate is found to be varying from 224.82 % as against the
allowable limit of 45 %.
The impact value of the aggregate is found to be 18.49 % as against the maximum limit of
45 %.
The specific gravity of C.A is found to be 2.76 which is within the allowable limits.
The water absorption of C.A is found to be 0.56 which is within the allowable limits.
The Bulk density is found to be 1517.41 kg/m 3 .
(c). Fine Aggregate:Three fine aggregate samples have been tested for gradation analysis and for silt and clay,
fineness modulus, Moisture content, Unit Weight, Specific gravity and bulkage.
The fine aggregate with fineness modulus of 2.702 is falling under Zone II and is suitable for
making concrete.
The Silt and clay is found to be 1.35 % which is less than the allowable limit of 4 %.
The Bulkage is found to be 2.04 % which is within the allowable limit of 5 %.
The moisture content is found to be 1.09 % which is within the allowable limits.
The specific gravity is found to be 2.62 which are within the allowable limits.
The unit weight is found to be 1397 Kg/ m 3 which is within the allowable limits.
(d). Cement:One cement sample 43 grade Penna cement has been tested for Fineness, normal consistency
and setting times.
The fineness of cement is found to be 2.90 % which is within the allowable limits of 10%.
The Normal consistency is found to be 30.40 % which is within the allowable limit.
The initial setting time of cement is found to be 99 Min as against the minimum limit 30 Min.
The final setting time of the cement has found to be 417 Min which are within the maximum
limit of 600 Min.
The soundness of cement is found to be 3.56 mm against the allowable limit of 10 mm.
The specific gravity of cement is found to be 3.13 which is within the allowable limits.
One cement sample 43 grade Penna Cement has been tested for compressive strength the
compressive strength of cement is found to be 25.66 N/mm 2 for 3 days, 36.33 N/mm 2 for
7 days.
(e). P H Value:
One water sample has been collected for testing P H value.
The P H Value is found to be 7.26 against the allowable limit of 6-8.5
