1865 Presbyterian mission
workers Daniel McGilvary and
Jonathon Wilson came to Chiang
Mai
1867 Two converts were killed by
the prince of Chiang Mai.
The missionaries went to Bangkok
and asked for religious freedom.
The king proclaimed freedom for
Thai people to follow any religion
they choose.

was called Payap (means Northwest)

in 1984,
becoming Payap

Payap University, the first private
university in Thailand, was established by
the Foundation of the Church of Christ
in Thailand to bear witness to the
steadfast love of God, the faithfulness of
humanity, and concern and support for
one another.

academic and moral excellence in order
to create understanding of the living
