Short Bio of the Speakers
Assoc. Prof. Marek Mehl, MD, PhD
Assoc.prof. Marek Mechl was trained at Masaryk University Hospital in Brno and also at Wichita
Hospital of Kansas University, USA. He has two degrees of radiology certification and certification
of neuroradiology. He has done PhD on MRi of the large joints and assoc.prof. on small parts
ultrasound. His current position is Chief doctor of department of radiology at Masaryk University
Hospital in Brno. He is also president od the Czech Radiological Society, member of accreditation
and certification committees of radiology in the Czech republic and member of ESR committees
(National, Educational and ETAP). His current interest in radiology is mainly MRI and ultrasound in
musculoskeletal and abdominal subspecialities.
Sarka Bohata, MD, PhD
Dr. Sarka Bohata was trained at Masaryk University Hospital in Brno. She has specialist recognition
in General Radiology, Abdominal and Cardiovascular Radiology. She has two degrees of radiology
certification and 9 years experience with CEUS. She has done PhD with thesis "The impact of
Contrast-enhanced Ultrasound examination in Diagnosis and Differential diagnosis of Focal Liver
Disease". Her current position is consultant of Radiology, especially in abdominal and
cardiovascular field. Sche works also as a seminar tutor of Medical Faculty. Masaryk University,
Brno. In 2005-2008 she worked as National Representative in RadiologyTrainees Forum of the EAR
(since 01/2005), She is Member of Czech Radiological Society, European Society of Radiology,
Member of Section of Magnetic Resonance of CRS.
John MacQuarrie, PhD
Dr John MacQuarrie was trained at the University Departments of Surgery and Radiology, Glasgow
Royal Infirmary where he specialised in liver metastases from colorectal cancer. He was awarded a
PhD for his work which encompassed diagnostic techniques using ultrasound. Having worked in
Healthcare for over 13 years, John now holds the position of Marketing Manager for Interventional
Radiology - Ultrasound with Philips Healthcare, covering the International market. His current
interests include contrast enhanced ultrasound and fusion imaging for diagnostic and
interventional use.
